Pelosi: Barr committed a crime by lying to Congress

During a closed-door meeting on Thursday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi accused Attorney General William Barr of committing a crime by lying to Congess.
We saw [Barr] commit a crime when he answered your question, Pelosi told Rep. Charlie Crist (D-Fla.) during a private meeting Thursday morning, according to two sources present for the gathering.
Pelosis comment was an apparent reference to Barrs response to Crist last month during an appropriations hearing, in which the attorney general said he was not aware of any concerns that special counsel Robert Muellers team might have expressed about his four-page summary of Muellers findings.
Barrs response appeared to contradict the revelation earlier this week that Mueller himself wrote to the attorney general saying he was worried that Barrs summary threatens to undermine ... public confidence in his investigation. Mueller also said Barrs memo did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance of the probe.

(16,699 posts)Not even AG Barr is above the law.
Any attempt by him to squash the SDNY and EDNY work into Trump corruption will be seen as Obstruction of Justice. The would be obvious.
And we much vigilant all over this country by putting our Reps in DC on notice that if they are not going to do right by us, the people, we have the power to change their JOB DESCRIPTIONS with the flick of a pen. Our voices and rights will not be taken away from us.

The laws and institutions are being broken and nothing will happen but a lot of scolding.

(9,865 posts)...the next day. Barr refused to show on Thursday in front of Nadler. Now what?
And yes, the majority of the public---not us politically watchful---but the rest, do not care.
When I look at the front page of the NYT's and the News aqnd the Post, it's already an old story or just treated like any other story. Not as the crisis that it is.

Maybe guns ablazing on the Capitol steps?
Personally, I prefer my reps spend their time doing things the right way, the way that will stick, rather than pandering and throwing bits of instant gratification red meat, ala Trump and company.

(9,865 posts)Perhaps I should repeat my point---this is a Constitutional Crisis.
If by Monday or Tuesday I see the Dems doing things that would indicate they are responding outside the usual "let's let things take their course" mode, I will be more than happy to congratulate them. And to be out in the street.

(37,748 posts)There's a process involved here, and as I said, I'll say it again, the committee will act upon how we will proceed.
From the article.

(62,497 posts)LOL I've lived on this earth long enough to know that anytime anyone says there is a "process" they are looking to delay until they can come up with a better response.

(32,640 posts)Some of us have lived on this earth long enough to be suspicious of anyone, including politicians, claiming to have "simple" answers to complex questions.
Armchair quarterbacks... let us know when you're good enough at this to get elected Speaker of the House.
Please go argue with this other armchair quarterback, will you?

Damned if she does, damned if she doesn't.
But do let us know when you are skilled enough to get elected Speaker.
Until then, some armchair quarterbacks will have to content themselves saying the could TOTALLY HAVE WON THAT GAME!!

Going to answer my question?
Here it is again so you won't have to scroll: Why do you say Pelosi is 'delaying?'
"Delaying" implies that she is refusing to do something now that she could be doing.
What's behind that accusation?

(22,461 posts)law, let them convict themselves as not giving a rat's patootie about having a country which violates the rule of law. If the prez pardons, accepting a pardon is an admission of guilt.
