Michael Cohen heads to prison in Trump hush-money scheme

Source: Associated Press

Michael Cohen, the former lawyer, media attack dog and all-around fixer for President Donald Trump, is scheduled to begin serving a three-year prison sentence Monday for crimes including campaign finance violations related to hush-money payments made on Trump’s behalf.

Cohen faces a 2 p.m. deadline to report to the Federal Correctional Institution, Otisville, a federal prison in the countryside 70 miles (113 kilometers) northwest of New York City. A minimum-security prison camp there has become a haven for white-collar criminals.

Cohen, who has been disbarred, is trading plaid blazers for khaki prison garb after trying and failing in recent weeks to get his sentence delayed or reduced.

His legal team asked House Democrats last month to intercede after Cohen testified on Capitol Hill, but they were reticent to do so. Federal prosecutors in New York were also no help, Cohen’s lawyers said.

It's baffling to me why he thinks he should get off scot-free simply because he told the truth once he was caught. Do the crime, do the time, Mikey.

Of course, Individual-1 should also be heading to the slammer.

My political gurus tell me to be patient.

while the guy he said he’d “take a bullet for” is out free as a bird. Nothing clears the mind like the thought of three years behind bars. Unfortunately for Cohen, he wised up a bit too late to spare him the punishment he deserves, so off to prison he goes. If Karma works her charms, tRump will eventually join him. But it must really, really sting for Cohen to see how things have worked out — thus far.

They get tennis courts and horseshoe pits and workout equipment. They do sleep in multi-person dorms though.

It's a jail for rich people that likely any of us would consider a getaway/unplug/retreat vacation at a youth hostel with amenities.

Nonetheless, jail is jail. Cohen is going to have to spend years in the can and his previous life is finished. He's been disbarred and in many ways, he's something of a national punchline.

"150,000 other people will be incarcerated today, probably with less publicity..."

But I'm guessing they'd feel clever about themselves for having done so.

Something to talk about over lunch, maybe...

Cohen said he wanted the whole story to come out. I guess I'm wondering why it didn't come out in the first place?

But the guy who handed him the cash and told him who to give it to is not. That has to change.

That's how it seems to work. A lot of people seem to like having trump suck out their souls.
