Federal Prosecutors Charge Michael Avenatti With Defrauding Stormy Daniels

Source: Bloomberg/AP

New York (AP) -- Attorney Michael Avenatti has been charged with ripping off porn star Stormy Daniels, the client who made him famous.

The allegations against Avenatti were revealed in charges filed Wednesday in New York.

Federal prosecutors say Avenatti took money Daniels was supposed to get from a book deal.

Daniels isn't named in the court filing, but the details of the case make it clear that she is the client involved in the case.

I mean, obviously the lack of experience in elected office should have been a disqualifier, but that aside, he seemed very slippery.

but I never thought he'd be material for running for President.

Even early on, he was being sued by his former law firm for taking money or something like that.

7. It's pathetic that he'd steal her money. A mother with a kid to support.

The one that made him famous.

I bet she never gets that money. He's probably already spent it. Pathetic.

I was as astounded to see some on DU pushing him for president. I quickly learned than an innocuous comment like we really don’t want a Porn Star lawyer as a candidate would be equated with being a traitor to the party. I stopped commenting while my hide was intact.

But many on DU saw this coming.
