Packers legend Bart Starr dies at 85

GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Green Bay Packers announced Sunday morning that former quarterback Bart Starr has died at 85. Starr had been in failing health for several years, after suffering a stroke. Starr played for the Packers from 1956 to 1971. He was MVP of Super Bowls I and II, and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Packers retired his No. 15 jersey in 1973. 3. my most favorite quarterback of that era and watching the first 2 superbowls on my uncle's color TV
that Starr won was a huge event.

I happened to be there in person to see him play his last game for Coach Lombardi (Super Bowl II).
To me, Bart Starr will always be the quintessential GREAT quarterback - a great leader, a great person. R.I.P. Bart, no one ever did it with more class. |

who was a back-up on a winless Alabama team his senior year, he had a pretty good pro career, I'd say.
