Trump takes to Twitter to support Home Depot: 'Fight for Bernie Marcus and Home Depot!'
Source: USA Today
President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Tuesday night in support of Home Depot after social media calls to boycott the home improvement retailer.
Shoppers have been taking to Twitter and other social media platforms to call for the boycott following news that co-founder Bernie Marcus plans to back Trump's re-election bid.
"A truly great, patriotic & charitable man, Bernie Marcus, the co-founder of Home Depot who, at the age of 90, is coming under attack by the Radical Left Democrats with one of their often used weapons," Trump said in a two-part tweet.
"They dont want people to shop at those GREAT stores," Trump continues, because Marcus contributed "to your favorite President, me!"

(55,171 posts)That's why he is doing this for his pal. We need more boycotts. What can we boycott that would harm McConnell?

(7,419 posts)They meant sending money to McConnell's opponent, while not a boycott, is a way to hurt McConnell

(120 posts)This is not old news if people paid attention during the last election. I was having my house painted back in 2016 and the painters said for me to get my paint from Home depot- I laughed and said never and explained why. They said they would pick the paint up for me. I told them they were not buying from Home Depot they said they had no problem going in there and I had to explain that my money would never go to Home Depot. They were Trump supporters and were fired on the spot! They were shocked and tried to back pedal- I painted myself!!

(21,902 posts)Can you be certain the owners of that store didn't support Trump? Where I live, if I only shopped at anti-Trump stores, I'd starve and have no where to buy.

(43,049 posts)hardware stores out of business. The quality and selection of a lot of their crap is terrible, but it's cheap. Which is the important thing, I suppose. The landlord here required the maintenance people to use the Borg, and when they replaced a toilet, it broke within a week. Even with name brand stuff, if you look closely at the model # it will be different from model #'s sold at other stores, or from the factory. Many manufacturers, in order to meet low price demands, have a special "Home Depot" model that looks the same, but is uses bushings instead of bearings, is made from cheaper steel, or in other ways not what you expected.
Unfortunately, it became the only place around for some things, and I was stuck with them. There's a Lowe's here now, but what's the difference?
I don't usually give a rat's ass about the politics of the boss if the business is righteously run, but Home Depot is a special case.

(4,341 posts)They made a lot of fuzz in support of the idiot Bush many years ago, and if you google their practices in regards to how they treat people who get injured at their stores, due to their negligence, it will make you head spin.
There is a case of a little girl who was killed by a fallen appliance, the first thing they did was to try to get her parents to sign a waiver to take away all responsibility from Home Depot, and they had had these kind of problems in the past with things falling due to their lack of safety in their shelving.
There are tons of lawsuits against them due to negligence. And the founders, at least one I know, are sleazy as it gets, they give money to republicans left and right to sponsor bills that affect employees, health, anything good for the citizens, in my book they are evil bastards.

(53,214 posts)goes back to the Bush years. They had a terrible record regarding in store injuries and the CEO didn't really care about the customers who were hurt or killed. He only cared about the money involved.

(507 posts)Trump calls for Boycotts of folks who slam him all the time though. AT&T, CNN, Starbucks, NFL, those are just off the top of my head, I'm sure if I google, I can find dozens more that dump has called for boycotts.
Aww, thin-skinned 3rd grader doesn't like it when tables are turned...

(17,506 posts)the local Home Depot has helped repair and refurbish the auditorium and cafeteria in a local economincally distressed school district and the main entrance to the local public library. Neither entity had the financial resources to do the the repairs on their own. Sometimes you have to seperate the CEO from the employees.

(54,908 posts)inventory sufficient for our community. Sure, maybe I pay a dollar more for a plunger, but I like the idea of supporting local business and not being dependent on Home Depot. And our store has been around for almost 100 years and the staff is courteous and very helpful.

I do my part to boycott, it's hard. I started out boycotting Walmart, still do, then boycotting all of the Koch brothers products, there are a lot.
I wonder how many Democrats would boycott their favorite sports team if they found out the owner was having dinner with Trump? The Cubs owner is another. Oops, sorry if I offended anyone.

(608 posts)In the late 1980's, the CEO of Dominoes announced that he was donating his profits to Operation Rescue. I haven't bought a single Dominoes pizza since. In fact, because of the dangers to women's health that abortion being illegal means and with Operation Rescue blockading women's health care clinics, I dubbed those pizzas, "Dominoes Death Disks."
So nice of Bernie Marcus to add Home Depot to that list.
