Trump's suit to block Democrats from getting his New York tax returns will be handed off to another

A federal judge decided Thursday that a different judge should handle President Donald Trump's suit to prevent House Democrats from obtaining his New York state tax returns, delaying a decision on the president's request for a restraining order against the Democrats.

Judge Trevor McFadden, a Trump appointee, rejected a bid by Trump lawyer William Consovoy to have McFadden hear both that case and a separate lawsuit by Ways and Means Chairman Richard Neal seeking the president's federal returns.

At a hearing Thursday, Consovoy argued the cases are so similar that McFadden ought to handle both.

But McFadden disagreed, noting one involved federal tax law and the other state law. What’s more, McFadden said, Democrats are plaintiffs in one case and defendants in the other, and that could have ramifications for their legal strategies in the cases.

“It feels like a very different situation,” he said.

It sounds like a solid legal decision
How long til il douche starts deciding he's disloyal and wondering if McFadden isn't really a Democrat?

But it appears he's taking his exalted position seriously. Unfortunately for Trump, most federal judges appointed for life do so.

It's pretty obvious what the president's lawyers intended with a wink & a nod.

was that Democrats found a precedence. There are 3 committees that can request the president's tax returns from the IRS. One of those 3 committees requested a portion of Nixon's tax returns and the IRS turned them over within 1 day I believe.

This is the one court case that democrats have filed that should be decided before the election. I mean how many ways are there to spin the word "shall?"

they may not be knee-jerk MAGAts, at least not all of them. Who wants to taint a virgin reputation with what any sane American would suspect as bias? It could ruin a lifetime appointment.

Does this thought have merit? I can't decide, but maybe others can.

How can a federal judge prevent The State of New York from giving someone State tax records? How can NY be prevented? A federal court has no power and there is no recourse if they do it.

by Neal, but I'm not so sure that it wasn't intentional. He has been really conflicted and reluctant in taking aggressive action to secure the tax information.
