114 House Democrats now support an impeachment inquiry

The number of House Democrats who’ve come out in favor of an impeachment inquiry continues to rise after former special counsel Robert Mueller’s House testimony last week. Days ago, the number was 106—and that represented a sharp climb. As of Wednesday, 114 House Democrats support at least opening an impeachment inquiry.

The additions to the list include two members who defeated incumbent Republicans in 2018: Rep. Jennifer Wexton of Virginia and Rep. Jason Crow of Colorado.

“I did not run for office with the purpose of impeaching the president, but I did take an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution,” Wexton tweeted. “After much deliberation, it is time for the House of Representatives to assert our constitutional responsibility and begin an impeachment inquiry.”

...................................

Why? “To this day the President prevents key witnesses from testifying before Congress, wrongly asserts executive privilege to dodge subpoenas, and attempts to skirt court rulings. If Congress doesn’t stand up to these abuses, then our system of checks and balances will have failed. It’s clear that we must respond with the full weight of Congress.”...................................

She can no longer try and sell the "small number of Democrats want impeachment" meme.

But that's not stopping her status quo establishment peers from rallying around her anyways.

Top Senate Democrats align with Pelosi amid party divide over impeachment

The top two Senate Democrats are siding with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in her resistance to launching impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump, even as a growing number of Democrats in both chambers are demanding a formal inquiry.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Pelosi is "handling this appropriately" at a news conference days after another top Democrat, Sen. Patty Murray of Washington, tweeted her support for opening an inquiry. The No. 2 Senate Democrat, Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, also sided with Pelosi, telling CNN, "I'm in Nancy's corner at this point. I really think we need to think about this long and hard about the impact it's going to have."

This is so frustrating. Yes lets think even LONGER and even HARDER about it. Because golly gee, the IMPACT would be scary.

I really really hope its a bait and switch plan by Nancy and Chuck. That is, she wants to cover herself and Democrats in general somewhat from any backlash about rushing into it. That she can say she tried to avoid it but she can't see any way to avoid it any longer.....on some date in the not to distant future, hopefully. Now, I think if this is true it is misguided. The amount of good will we will get with any small r Republicans, and Independents is minimal from this small gesture. You have to weight that benefit against the continuing damage this asshole is perpetrating on the country, and around the world. And if by waiting too long, it becomes too close to the election, and/or Trump has invaded Iran or something, and everything is off the table.

It really makes one wonder just what Nancy and Chuck are afraid of besides the flimsy excuse that Republicans might get mad(der). Is there something that the inquiry would reveal that they don't want to be revealed? I can't wait until Nancy comes before the camera to announce an official impeachment investigation.Whether she says it under duress or its some kind of 5 dimensional chess move I really don't care.

My intercessions include petition prayer 'about' the offensive one in the People's House, not FOR him.

There were 93 a week ago. I think that the 20 person gain is due to constituents calling their reps. Keep it up! Go to town halls during their Recess. Call more than once. Tell friends and family to do the same.
