NRA expresses 'deepest sympathies' to families and victims of El Paso, Dayton shootings
Source: The Hill
The National Rifle Association (NRA) on Sunday expressed their "deepest sympathies" for the victims and their families of the two mass shootings that rocked America over the weekend.
Our deepest sympathies are with the families and victims of these tragedies, as well as the entire communities of El Paso and Dayton, Andrew Arulanandam, head of the organization's public affairs department, said in a statement. On behalf of our millions of members, we salute the courage of the first responders and others offering their services during this time.
The NRA is committed to the safe and lawful use of firearms by those exercising their Second Amendment freedoms. We will not participate in the politicizing of these tragedies but, as always, we will work in good faith to pursue real solutions that protect us all from people who commit these horrific acts.
Democrats have long criticized the NRA, the nations most powerful gun rights lobby, for opposing firearm restrictions. A universal background check bill, passed by the House, is currently stalled in the Republican-controlled Senate.

(60,320 posts)Definitely not as deep as the sympathy they would extend to a neighbor guest who burned his hand say at a barbecue.
Maybe if the NRA prez carried a coffin in every mass shooting funeral we might believe it is other than a shallow trite hypocritical meaningless phrase expressed only and purely politically to prevent political damage.

(40,915 posts)The NRA used to be for sportsmen, hunters and gun safety.
Now it has become an industry owned shill for the sale of more guns and the enrichment of its leaders.

(4,419 posts)that did serious mia culpa after it was revealed in company documents, that chemicals were being added to make cigarettes more addictive? And cause more deaths?
Now the nra wants to justify its own existence, even in light of their responsibility for thousands of deaths..

(6,011 posts)I know -- it's part of the Constitution, but I don't care.
I also know that there are good people who hunt and target shoot for enjoyment.
The ammosexual agenda is ruining it for them, as well, because push is going to come to shove,
and the gun owners are eventually going to lose. Boo Hoo.
