Lady Gaga announced Friday that she will "fully fund" classroom projects in Dayton, Ohio, El Paso, Texas, and Gilroy, California. The "A Star is Born" actress wrote on Facebook that she will be working with her Born This Way Foundation and in partnership with DonorsChoose.org for these projects.
"My heart goes out to those who were taken from us too soon and to their families, loved ones and communities who are left to grieve... Everyone has the right to laws that make them feel safe in their communities," the singer said.
The project will span 14 classrooms in Dayton, 125 classrooms in El Paso and 23 classrooms in Gilroy. According to the pop star, the initiative will provide students "access to the support they need to inspire their students to work together and bring their dreams to life."
Some of the projects include educational tools on emotional regulation, age-appropriate books and creative modules involving photography and painting. She mentions the focus for these projects is on "prioritizing your mental health and checking in on your loved ones."

(17,520 posts)The shooter came from the Dallas area. El Paso seems pretty loving. Dallas is NOT loving. Dallas seems to have a lot of hate.
This country could do worse than impose emotional regulation classes and a heavy dose of art / music / theatre on all young men.

(68,201 posts)returned to live. Dallas held no interest to me whatsoever. It was soulless.
El Paso was my mother's birthplace and where she grew up. To hear her talk about it, El Paso was a very violent place but this was a long, long time ago. Now I wonder about this city that my mother moved away from so many years ago and what it, and Dallas, became. Things got real for me when JFK was killed there. By then I was in New York and I had good reason to hate Dallas even more and stay away. Then my niece was shot to death in Dallas and I returned, once more, to the outcome of violence, now in my own family.
You might say I have good reason never to want to see Dallas again.

Celebrity news, even if great/interesting, isn't generally important enough for Latest Breaking News.
