Exclusive: Log Cabin executive director resigns over Trump endorsement
Source: Washington Blade
The executive director of the Log Cabin Republicans has resigned following a controversial decision by the organizations board to endorse President Trump, the Washington Blade has learned exclusively.
Jerri Ann Henry, who was the first woman to lead the LGBT Republican group, formally submitted her resignation Friday and left Monday after discussions with board members characterized as harsh, sources familiar with Log Cabin told the Blade.
The resignation follows intense criticism of Log Cabin, which announced its support for Trump earlier this month without its members having met with him or having received any explicit commitments in exchange.
Sources said Henrys discontent with Trump and dissatisfaction with Log Cabins approach to defending its Trump endorsement in the media were key among her reasons for stepping down.

(8,854 posts)...does this organization serve? I can't figure it out. If any of these people are drawing a paycheck for their work with this group then someone somewhere is getting robbed.

(2,966 posts)It's like Jewish Hitler supporters or black Klan supporters. I just don't get it.
It's fair for a gay individual to have a conservative orientation and potentially be a Trump supporter. But, an organization with a specifically LGBT identity to endorse Trump - it's, just...I don't know what it is. It ain't normal.
As a country, we're going down the shitter as long as this "creature" is in office and his supporters wield power.

(8,967 posts)As long as item (1) is satisfied, many fiscal conservatives who happen to be gay envision getting themselves to the top 1% and will therefore opt for item (2), thanks to Dems having ensured that their rights as individuals are respected.

(11,523 posts)I'd always realized that the Log Cabin group were more interested in furthering their financial goals than protecting their rights as gay Americans, but you bring out a good point that it's the work of Democrats to protect their rights which allows them to concentrate on enriching themselves.

HORN: I can`t imagine myself voting for a Democratic nominee because I am
a Conservative. I do believe in the core principles of the party of
Lincoln. I don`t know what I`m going to do in 2020 other than I will not
be voting for Donald Trump.
Tells you everything you need to know.

(8,733 posts)The core principles of the political Party of Lincoln are absolutely not those of the Republican party of 2019.
This statement is intellectually lazy and demonstrably false.
