Immigration 'Take the land': President Trump wants a border wall. He wants it black. And he wants

Source: Washington Post

Immigration:'Take the land': President Trump wants a border wall. He wants it black. And he wants it by Election Day.

President Trump is so eager to complete hundreds of miles of border fence ahead of the 2020 presidential election that he has directed aides to fast-track billions of dollars' worth of construction contracts, aggressively seize private land and disregard environmental rules, according to current and former officials involved with the project.

He also has told worried subordinates that he will pardon them of any potential wrongdoing should they have to break laws to get the barriers built quickly, those officials said.

(snip) The president has told senior aides that a failure to deliver on the signature promise of his 2016 campaign would be a letdown to his supporters and an embarrassing defeat. With the election 14 months away and hundreds of miles of fencing plans still in blueprint form, Trump has held regular meetings at the White House to receive progress updates and hasten the pace, according to several people involved in the discussions.

When aides have suggested that some of his orders are illegal or unworkable, Trump has suggested he would pardon the officials if they would just go ahead, aides said. He has waved off worries about contracting procedures and the use of eminent domain, saying "take the land," according to officials present at the meetings.

Once agin, aides are saying the orders are illegal. Expect this to wind up in a Texas court.

He is really off the rails...again. Even more so with this one.

You can't just seize land legally in the US. Doesn't Eminent Domain require that he land be purchased at market value? Also, there is nothing to stop the land owners from going to court to contest it, which would then tie it up and, of course, be an expense to them.

And, just supposing the land was purchased, I bet we are talking a lot.

Wow, and ordering government employees to commit crimes? Fascist much?

The time Donald Trump’s empire took on a stubborn widow — and lost

https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/the-time-donald-trumps-empire-took-on-a-stubborn-widow--and-lost/2015/09/09/f9cb287e-5660-11e5-b8c9-944725fcd3b9_story.html

There once was a widow who lived in a house by the sea.
It wasn’t much of a place, just a fading, clapboard-clad box a few steps from the boardwalk in Atlantic City.
Yet, somehow, that house has turned into a clogged intersection of American celebrity and wealth, an odd mash-up of failed dreams, bombast, stubborn indignation, name-calling, angry taunts and legal bombardment.
The cast of characters populating that house’s curious history over the past three decades includes a friend and co-author of Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush, a legendary pornographer, and a famed investor. But the central figures in its life and death saga are a feisty, obstinate woman named Vera Coking and a billionaire, the Republican presidential front-runner, Donald Trump.
Trump is dominating his Republican opponents in the polls. But in the long melodrama that is Trump’s business career, the house in Atlantic City is the place where all the billionaire’s money and all the billionaire’s men couldn’t keep a 5-foot-3 widow from whupping him

30. Takings clause changed by Kelo decision
Wed Aug 28, 2019, 09:49 AM
Aug 2019

Taking land by eminent domain should only be done for a public use according to the Constitution, however the justices agreed 5 to 4 that private property can be taken for a public benefit when they allowed Pfizer to take Susette Kelo's house because it would provide a public benefit by way of increased tax revenue. This decision paved the way to take native land protected by treaty for the public "benefits" of an oil pipeline. The deciding vote was Justice Kennedy. Now we actually need legislation to protect landowners from unfair takings.

It’s far too often used to gain rights for private for-profit companies. Case in point, what good does the Keystone Pipeline serve?

Many people who live on the borders can trace their family ownership back decades, yet they end up having no rights in cases like this—even though a border wall is unnecessary to keep people out. Electronic surveillance would be less costly, less destructive, and more effective. But we have a president who is willfully ignorant and avoids any information that runs counter to even common sense. He is determined to wreck this country and Republicans are just sitting back and letting him do it.

The Trump administration is already moving to take Americans’ private property to build the wall Mexico isn’t paying for.

Okay, if we assume that this pattern of psychotic jabber will continue, then one could assume that he might ramp his Fascist rhetoric up. And yes, his inner Fascist is really showing now. That is the applicable word to me: Trump is a Fascist and he has now made that clear.

If he could possibly suggest, (command?) ideas about seizing land and having government employees commit crimes at his decree, then why not seize corporations and companies? Why not start ordering the deaths of people who oppose you or are in the way?

Yeah, that may sound hyperbolic, but he already hallucinates that his pardoning power will be some sort of incentive here and seems to have no idea what the many ramifications are for anybody who would be able to suspend their better judgement to follow through on his "orders".
