A 63-year-old man was attacked with a paving stone while exercising in a park.
The suspect allegedly yelled an anti-Semitic slur before blindsiding the victim.
Abraham Gopin was jogging near the ballfields inside Lincoln Terrace Park around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday when he was attacked.
There was a battlefield
When he saw me, he jumped towards me
Shutting rocks with full force towards my head, he told CBS2s Jenna DeAngelis. Then, he jumped on me and start to fight with me, trying to knock me in the face probably, I would say, 20, 25, 30 times with his fists, and I was protecting myself.
Gopins family said a stranger approached him in the park, yelled a slur and punched him in the face. The suspect then hit the 63-year-old over the head with a paving stone, breaking his nose and knocking out his teeth.
It was a hate
he said Jew, Jew. He said something in that direction, he said. He was for certain looking to kill. No doubt about it.

(54,053 posts)This type of anti-Semitism is coming from another source, anti-Semitism among select African-American communities, specifically the likes of Farrakhan and the Black Israelites, both groups are virulently anti-Semitic, and have little to nothing to do with the menace squatting in the White House. And, given they are black, you can be damn sure, the POS pResident and his administration will never call them "good people". It should be noted this is actually one more in a spate of recent attacks, but it also is only happening in NYC. I have read a number of anti-Semitic crime stories for years, especially the past few months, most are going to be the neo-Nazi/white Identity persuasion, even in other parts of NY, except when it comes to NYC.

(54,053 posts)Suffice to say, some of it comes from the alleged "killing" of Jesus, but it really started before that event. The Jew has been the ultimate outsider and interloper among various groups of people. We are accused of not assimilating, and if we do assimilate, we are accused of not being "real" citizens or fifth columns. It stretches to all parts of the world, and threads through a variety of cultures, some whom have little to no Jews in their midst. Anti-Semitism has also found a home in all political parties, to varying degrees, and finds its supporters and defenders from all stripes of people, from uneducated to post-doctoral. It is quite malleable.

(12,665 posts)When do we EVER hear about a Jewish man or woman shooting up some place? Etc etc. NEVER.
I'd rather have a Jewish neighbor than anyone else. As a matter of fact, i HAD one for years and didnt even KNOW it until I mentioned doing something to our fence one day & she told me she couldnt work on that day because she was Jewish.
I post these stories to continue to expose who the real victims are on a continuing basis. And it just pisses me off.

Yesterdays incidents offer a snapshot of the citys ongoing anti-Semitism outbreak. Jews of all ages are subjected to violent attacks, along with daily cases of more mundane forms of harassment. The incidents arent exactly a secret. It didnt take long for Mayor Bill de Blasio to tweet about the attack on Gopin, announcing that the NYPDs Hate Crimes Task Force was on the case. Of course, this is about the bare minimum one could reasonably expect in reaction to an incident in which the attacker allegedly called his victim a dirty Jew before smashing him in the face with a large stone. Everyone knows that violence against Jews in the city has climbed sharply over the past couple of years, and yet City Hall has offered little in the way of a specific or organized response to the problem.
The causes of the epidemic are difficult to pin down with precision, and the city has hardly treated the incidents as a crisislast month, Tablet found that a proposed mayoral office on hate crimes prevention, the creation of which has been de Blasios primary response to the violence, had barely progressed beyond the planning phase and had no dedicated staff. De Blasio has also repeatedly insisted that the attacks against Jews in New York are driven by a white supremacist movement connected to Donald Trump despite clear evidence that this is not the case and, in fact, many of the attacks are being carried out by people of color with no ties to the politics of white supremacy.
On the national level, discussions of anti-Semitism rage without apparent reference to the violence in Brooklyn, which defies any easy categorization, has little apparent relationship with national politics or political figures, and involves members of racial minority groups rather than white nationalists or other more expedient villains. Each successive outrage invariably gives way to a passive, citywide acceptance of Jews being routinely targeted in 21st-century New York for no reason other than their religious and ethnic identity, along with a general shrug at whatever factors are driving the outbreak. Looking at the blood of Abraham Gopin, it is disturbing to consider what it might take for this dynamic to finally change.

(10,235 posts)My sister and her family are Jewish and they love Traitor Trump. Most of their friends....who are Jewish too....love the Trumps too.
But you are right. 71% voted for Hillary vs 24% for Trump. Humph... I guess their huge wealth has gone to their heads. They inherited a bundle from his Mom.
