MPD: At least 10 shot at Ladd Peebles Stadium after HS football game
Source: KKTV (CBS Affiliate, Mobile, AL)
UPDATE (10:18 p.m.) Mobile Police say at least 10 people have been shot at Ladd Peebles Stadium. Police say the age of those injured ranges from 15 to 18. Mobile Fire-Rescue confirms 10 people were transported to area hospitals. The five patients transported by MFRD were taken to the hospital in critical condition, but with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say two people are in custody. Police say they are questioning them, but have not confirmed if they are the shooters.
Mobile Police Chief Lawrence Battiste asks Why are the young people bringing this type of violence to public events. Theyre bringing their beefs that they have with each other in their neighborhoods and theyre putting other people in harms way. Chief Battiste and the Mobile Police Department has been advocating to prevent teen violence in the city.
Were going to have to be more aggressive on our end, the city, as to how we hold the individual accountable when they go before the courts. We have got to make sure they understand that we will not tolerate juvenile violence in our community, says Chief Battiste. Chief Battise says they will make sure the suspects are prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Maybe because cops are racist and the youth of today don't trust them (the cops) to protect them.

Then they scream about "nothing" being done, and claim it's all because of racism. Right.

You should just issue everyone a gun with mandatory carry!
I own the TV and movie rights.
The worst part is that you really have to ask, Why are the young people bringing this type of violence to public events?"
You are really that fucking stupid and you are the police chief. That's a low bar.

(56,316 posts)You so-called "conservatives" are for putting guns in EVERYBODY'S hands, and among that everybody, SOME of them are going to be just unstable enough to pull stunts like this.
Get it?
I didn't think you would. That's why it will happen again, and sooner rather than later. There are guns and ammo in the hands of the next deranged shooter RIGHT NOW, and he is just waiting for his last bit of resolve to mature and the last bit of civilized inhibition to disappear. It is too late to change or prevent, because YOU already made it possible.

This kids must have been scared out of their minds. I would have been.

This is just horrific to watch from Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Football coaches instructing players to take cover, fans hiding under the stands from a suspected shooting. This is a high school football game and should be a place of fun competition for everyone! Not violence! #Mobile

A shooting at a high school football game in Mobile, Ala., on Friday night wounded at least 10 people, the police said.
The citys police chief, Lawrence Battiste, said at a news conference Friday that the victims were between 15 and 18 years old, according to local station WKRG 5. Their conditions were not immediately available.
One person suffered a seizure and another injured his hand in an attempt to escape, Chief Battiste said. It was not clear whether they were among those who had been shot.
