A Republican state lawmaker from Texas has caused outcry for tweeting My AR is ready for you Robert Francis after Democratic presidential candidate Robert Francis Beto ORourke pledged to ban and confiscate AR-15 military-style rifles.
Within hours, Twitter took down Briscoe Cains post, which ORourkes campaign labeled a death threat. It violates our rules for threats of violence, a company spokesperson said late Thursday night.

Earlier, Cain, a 34-year-old conservative Republican lawyer who represents a district outside of Houston, Texas, had mocked Twitter users who called his comment a threat of violence. Youre an idiot, he told one commenter. When ORourke called the tweet a death threat, and said it proved that neither Cain nor anyone else should own an AR-15, Cain responded, Youre a child, Robert Francis.

And if his post isn't a threat, this wasn't either.

(1,249 posts)This is a perfect of where there should be no tolerance. A death threat means immediate confiscation of all his weapons.
Talk about shootings being a result of mental illness? Threatening to kill a public person is a form of mental illness.
Come on people....show some resistance to these crazies!

(4,082 posts)Perhaps we misunderstand him...
and he is actually saying that he will have his AR-15 cleaned, emptied, broken down and ready for turning over to the government.
After all, the GOP claims to be law-abiding.

(13,913 posts)The TX government should call for his resignation. Of course they won't do that with GOP in control in TX but in the least some disciplinary action needs to be applied. This guy is a nut job and why we have the likes of the NRA.
