McSally's GOP Senate Challenger Wants to...Annex Mexico

Source: RealClearPolitics

Donald Trump wants to build the wall. A wannabe-Donald Trump in Arizona wants to annex Mexico.

Ahead of a general election where the Grand Canyon State could be a bit of a problem for the president, the wealthy owner of a cosmetics company, Daniel McCarthy, is challenging incumbent Sen. Martha McSally in the Republican primary. His platform? So far it includes annexing Mexico.

“There is a process to become states for the United States,” McCarthy said Tuesday morning on an Arizona radio station. “Clearly 30 million Mexican illegal immigrants want to be United States citizens, probably half the country wants to be United States citizens.”

And so, the aspiring lawmaker from a border state would like the citizens of Mexico to turn their attention to Article IV, Section 3, Clause 1 of the U.S. Constitution. It stipulates that “new states may be admitted by the Congress into this union.”

Does he realize that all those Brown people would then become voting citizens?

I read somewhere that the plotters who formed the Confederate States of America fully intended eventually to conquer and annex Mexico and parcel it out among themselves. Of course, voting rights for actual Mexicans would not have emerged in such a feudalistic scenario.

However exaggerating like Donnie wat’s-his-namedoesn’t impress people with one’s intelligece and leaves right-Wing liars with argumentative openings they don’t deserve.

Also, I’m of the opinion that if the native people of what became West Texas and the US Southwest Had been allowed to determine their future, they would have rejected governance either by the US or Mexico.

to publically state that we as an association have very high standards...We will under no circumstances
admit this idiot to our club. Under some circumstances we might admit someone who is just plain
"stupid" but this person is never admissible because of not only his low IQ, but a certain lack of understanding of history and geography. Therefore, we take a stance that our association does not want or will ever admit the person, Daniel McCarthy, into our ranks of morons...

And it been going on for quite a while. Probably starting with David Duke in Louisiana back in the 80’s.

You can’t build a party on Fox News seasoned with Limbaugh and Hannity without crazies eventually rising to the forefront. And it has become increasingly hard for the national party to beat them down.

Yeah, this guy is a clown. But I bet if Duke ran today he would still threaten to win. Like Kobach in Kansas. The National republicans are scared shitless of him, but he will run well in the primaries. And King as well.

And in the trump era it is even easier for them. Ken Cuccinelli could not even win the Primary that the winner ended up a loser. But now he is a big wig in the trump war on Mexicans.

The nuts are owning the party. Soon even Palin will be seen as a moderate! They already hate McCain and Bush.

It will catch up with them soon. Already is actually.

that has historical roots on this continent that predate the arrival of whites to the early areas that formed colonies of the north American settlements. Raising the flag while talking about annexing Mexico is flat out racist, condescending, and patronizing. 130 million people claim Mexico as their nation and are busy every day going about the business of living.

Trump's trashing of Mexico and Mexicans, which also trashes Mexican Americans who have been in the US for hundreds of years, has been the single saddest foreign "policy" direction to come out of Washington in years. The Mexican people and our own Latino residents deserve better than to be the whipping boy for a criminal government mob.

There are 31 states and one “federal area” (Mexico treats its national capitol the same way we do, except that Mexico City sends people to Congress) in Mexico. If we annexed Mexico into the United States at the behest of the GOP, all 32 of our new states would break Democratic.

Just think of how great our country would become if the Republican Party lost every bit of its power.

Thinking through all the folks I've known who were either immigrants themselves or came from fairly recent immigrants from Mexico (central america too if I am precise), it's been kind of a crap shoot on their politics. If something like that did happen, I could see the republican party adapting itself to be less hostile toward them and winning over a lot on social issues due to the religious stuff.

Not that any of this would ever happen. I find people tend to like their sovereignty and I couldn't imagine the people of mexico wanting to give that up.

It is interesting to think how that would play out if it did happen, though.
