Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff were not informed in advance of the U.S. special operations forces raid in northwestern Syria in which ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi died, Schiff said on ABCs "This Week"
"My understanding [Pelosi] wasnt [told]. But a couple of things, first of all, good riddance. [Al-Baghdadi] was a blood thirsty killer to the degree that he retained operational control of ISIS, Schiff said. "This is an operational success, this is a symbolic victory. He had the blood of thousands and thousands of people on his hands, including many Americans and American journalists. So, this a great day, a ruthless killer has been brought to Justice. "

(25,980 posts)He refused to respond to Trump's pettiness in kind; kudos to him for that. He also managed to skewer the DOJ "investigation" without [outright] insult to Durham. That's going the extra mile.
Meanwhile,I really wish Trump would stop trying to sound cool calling the troops "our dogs" - lack of respect seems to be his specialty. What an ass.

By James Hohmann
October 17
THE BIG IDEA: On his 1,000th day in office, President Trump downplayed the threat posed by the Islamic State fighters who have reportedly escaped since he abandoned the Kurds who were holding them and ordered U.S. troops to evacuate northern Syria. America, he insisted, doesnt need to worry about terrorists who are 7,000 miles away.
Rep. Liz Cheney (Wyo.), the House Republican Conference chair, spoke up during a meeting at the White House on Wednesday afternoon to remind Trump that the terrorists who killed nearly 3,000 Americans on Sept. 11, 2001, came from 7,000 miles away, according to three people familiar with the exchange.
Trumps takeover of the GOP has been well documented, but this exchange offered a revealing window into the fundamental differences that remain between how Trump and traditional conservatives see the world.
