US judge blocks Trump's health insurance rule for immigrants
Source: AP
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) A federal judge in Portland, Oregon, on Saturday put on hold a Trump administration rule requiring immigrants prove they will have health insurance or can pay for medical care before they can get visas.
U.S. District Judge Michael Simon granted a preliminary injunction that prevents the rule from going into effect Sunday. It's not clear when he will rule on the merits of the case.
Seven U.S. citizens and a nonprofit organization filed the federal lawsuit Wednesday contending the rule would block nearly two-thirds of all prospective legal immigrants.
The lawsuit also said the rule would greatly reduce or eliminate the number of immigrants who enter the United States with family-sponsored visas.

(36,360 posts)Does Trump provide health insurance for his foreign import workers?
Or are they emergency room visits at taxpayer expense?

(2,227 posts)Trump wants to stop all poor people who can't afford their own health coverage costs, from immigrating to US of A.
Trump hires illegal immigrants at his resorts, who are, by definition, poor.
Trump does NOT provide health coverage for those illegal immigrants. For any serious medical needs, they must use the emergency room access to health care.
You, the TAXPAYER, are paying those expenses for Trump.

USA!
edit to add...
EVERY republican senator and representative is perfectly FINE with YOU, THE TAXPAYER paying the medical costs of HIS illegal immigrant workers.
Do you have a problem with that? Then VOTE like it.
Then run the ad against EVERY down ballot republican in EVERY red state/district.

(2,412 posts)Judge Simon is a real prince!!! I sat for three days in his court while he respectfully listened to a huge number of people who declared that the Portland Police had violated their civil rights in a federal case. When many were still to be heard he extended the court time to another day! He listened to everyone, the mentally ill and the homeless included. I was so impressed! We are fortunate to have him on the bench!
