Matt Bevin refuses to concede and plans to ask a judge for a recount in Kentucky: Politico reporter
Source: Raw Story
Republican Governor Matt Bevin is reportedly not going to concede after election results showed him losing re-election in Kentucky.
Politico correspondent Alex Isenstadt says a Bevin aide told him the campaign would not concede.
News Bevin aide tells me Bevin won't concede and expects to go to recount

Under Kentucky law, there is no mechanism for an automatic recount and the Bevin campaign would have to convince a judge to authorize a recount.

I don't know the laws in Kentucky, but I would think a recount would be automatic

(11,528 posts)SO.... it will have to be requested.

(24,345 posts)There is no mandatory recount law in Kentucky. Bevin may request counties recanvass their results, which is not a recount, but rather a check of the vote count to ensure the results were added correctly.
Bevin would need to seek and win a courts approval for a recount, the process for which would be dictated by the court.
appreciate it your help

(60,077 posts)When at the polls I asked the Precinct Judge how was the turnout, and at 3PM it was at about 240. When Obama was elected, the vote total at my precinct was a bit over 250 when the polls closed. We were fired up.
This precinct would have been happy with 25% turnout. One year we had only 84 votes. What a boring day.

(11,827 posts)...understanding of this, but from what Ive been told by several colleagues in the know, his attorney would have to have actual cause to request a recount. There has been nothing in the run-up to suggest nefarious activities, so I dont know what his basis would be.
