A while back, a group of about a dozen service members were assigned by their commander to plan this years Thanksgiving luncheon for their military organization.
Last years event was held at the commanders off-base church and, according to the service member who ended up contacting the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) for help, was, not surprisingly, a Christian proselytizing event, something that the service members did not want repeated this year.
The service members tasked with planning the event told the commander and his staff that this years event would not be held at the commanders church, but would be held in the large conference room on base that is used for other mandatory gatherings. This change of location was reluctantly agreed to by the commander, but he still insisted that Christian prayers would be delivered by himself and the chaplains he had invited to attend. It was at this point that one of the service members contacted MRFF for help.
MRFF founder and president Mikey Weinstein immediately contacted the commanders superiors, and a few days later the service members were told that there would not be Christian prayers at the event. It appeared that the problem was solved. But then, a few days later, the service members were told that the Christian prayers were back on. Why? (19,192 posts)The Holy Grail is one of the funniest movies ever made, in my opinion. "How do you know he's a king?" "He doesn't have shit all over him". I never grow tired of watching it. Thanks for posting the clip.

(14,118 posts)me that anyone who venerates this group is mistaken. They were not a people to emulate, let alone be the subject of "Historical Prayers" for the military or anyone else.

(1,242 posts)The 'religious freedom' they were seeking was not something they were 'seeking'. The king kicked them out, which is part of the reason they did not turn back when their ship was damaged en route - they were banished.

(46,312 posts)Where they could worship as they wanted, problem was, all the other faiths in Holland were horning in on their schtick.
So they came here to the "Colonies" so they could set up their theocratic government.

(11,412 posts)their goal is to take over government to force the whole world to (according to William Barr and Mike Pompeo) follow their creed or burn in hell. For real people, these people are fascist.
