HONG KONG (Reuters) - Hong Kong police opened fire and hit at least one protester on Monday, witnesses and media reports said, as chaos erupted across the city a day after officers fired tear gas to break up demonstrations that are entering their sixth month.
Police fired live rounds at protesters on the eastern side of Hong Kong island, Cable TV and other Hong Kong media reported. Cable TV said one protester was wounded when police opened fire.
Video footage showed a protester lying in a pool of blood with his eyes wide open. Police also pepper-sprayed and subdued a woman nearby as plastic crates were thrown at officers, the video shared on social media showed.
Reuters could not immediately authenticate the footage.

(4,032 posts)Democracy is being fought for in the streets of Hong Kong. The story is becoming a side bar due to this ridiculous administrations scandal after scandal soaking up the ink.
I recently had a yearly checkup with a doctor who was originally from Greenland. He said the same problems exist there as well. The money is flowing to the top, income inequality is more prevalent now than ever before, and right wing extremists are crawling out from the sewers where they once have hidden.
All of this is happening on a worldwide scale while we sit back fat, dumb and happy. By the time we lose it all, well never get it back, and, we will have no one to blame but ourselves. Quote after quote from those in our past sound the alarms, or at the very least, should grab our attention. If its even possible to quell this rancid mentality, it will be many years of pain before we see better days if in fact we ever do.
Good luck to us all. Get out there and do something!
