Jane Fonda Leads DC Climate Protest For Sixth Straight Friday

Actress Jane Fonda led a climate change protest on Capitol Hill for the sixth consecutive Friday, bringing along her now iconic red coat and a host of celebrity friends.
Joining Fonda in Friday’s protest were her “Grace and Frankie” co-stars Brooklyn Decker and June Diane Raphael and the show's writers. Also joining the protest was “CSI” actress Marg Helgenberger, author and activist Robert Kennedy Jr. and filmmaker Abigail Disney.
The protesters held a rally on the Capitol lawn before marching to the Russell Senate Office Building rotunda, where about 70 people unlawfully demonstrated. Capitol Police arrested a number of demonstrators, including Raphael, Helgenberger and Kennedy. The Hill has reached out to Capitol Police for the number of protesters arrested.
Fonda said this week’s "Fire Drill Fridays" rally was focused on achieving justice for marginalized groups through the Green New Deal, a proposal introduced by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). “Any real solution to climate change must have a strong commitment to environmental, gender and racial justice at its core,” Fonda said...
