Chick-fil-A backtracks, won't pledge to end donations to anti-LGBT charities
Source: PinkNews
The chicken chain, which has a long history of donations to lobbying groups that oppose LGBT+ rights, signalled on Monday that it would end donations to charities that discriminate against LGBT+ people, after a sustained international boycott.
However, after a backlash from anti-LGBT conservatives and Republicans, the company appears to have quietly backtracked.

It can be made at home if people want to brine their chicken breasts before frying it to keep it nice and juicy.
Here in DC, many local restaurants make infinitely superior chicken sandwiches.
Chick-Fil-Gay. Here's a recipe where she marinates in pickle juice:

(3,473 posts)I do think they are better. I have frequented Chic-fil-a in the past, but something about this pledging to stop the donations and backing out irritates me. I think I'm done with them. There is a Popeyes right down the street from the local Chic-fil-a and since I find their sandwiches better, that makes this an easy decision.

Looks like a very easy recipe! I'll have to give it a try.
1 boneless, skinless chicken breast
1/4 cup pickle juice (sour dill is my favorite)
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup flour
1 tablespoon powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon celery salt
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
Optional: up to 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper for a spicy sandwich
Peanut Oil for frying (about a cup)

(4,737 posts)They are, with boycotts and everything, by far the most profitable fast-food chain on a per-unit basis...they know they can donate to whomever they want and it's not going to affect their bottom line.
I'm personally agnostic on the whole ethical purchasing thing; CFA is particularly transparent about where their profits go but I'm sure a lot more donations to these groups come from 1%ers making their money off the stock market, so buying from pretty much any public company is still supporting that money flow albeit less directly.

(9,958 posts)And I never will. I have been boycotting brands that support bad actors for decades. One of my first was the exercise chain, Curves. The founder, Gary Heavin, reportedly donates 10% of profits to anti-abortion causes and to groups that spread rumors that abortions cause cancer. Two other anti-abortion groups I refuse to patronize are Dominos Pizza and Carls Jr. The founders of both are active in denying reproductive rights. Im sure they do not miss my money, but it makes me feel better!
