Anti-tax activist Tim Eyman says he'll run for governor against Inslee
Source: Seattle Times
Stepping up to a microphone Thursday, anti-tax activist Tim Eyman said he plans to run for governor in 2020.
Eyman made the announcement during a Sound Transit board meeting before getting his microphone cut over a rule against campaign speeches during public comment.
A professional initiative filer, Eyman, 53, has had a year of ups and downs. A Thurston County judge ruled in September that Eyman must disclose the source of almost $800,000 in contributions hes taken in since 2012.
That ruling stems from a nearly five-year-old investigation alleging that Eyman laundered campaign donations through a web of political committees, businesses and kickbacks to enrich himself.

Eyman has been an anti-tax gadfly for years, getting dozens of State Initiatives on the ballot over the past decade.

(906 posts)What I dont get is he is a thief how can a known thief run for any office? ( I know trump is one )
He stole a friggin chair then said I forgot or whatever. Makes money from all these initiatives that he runs. I think his first might have been an honest lets make a change. Anyhow he saw money and got greedy, upgrades his house from what I understood could be remembering incorrectly.
In my opinion I dont like his initiatives because they hurt more than they help because if you want nice things you have to pay for them they are not free. I want nice roads no pot holes, plowed in the winter etc. dont like it it hurts sometimes paying that bill but gotta pay.
If the roads dont get fixed it does damage to costs more to fix then the price of those tabs.
Plus not everyone can afford a car so those tax dollars help pay bus service Im sure more than one person it helps get to work or theyd be at home on welfare and that costs taxpayers more.
EyemAn thinks only of himself.
Wish hed move
Somewhere else. I hope his plan goes down in flames.
I also think its a plan to get more money slip some of those campaign dollars in his own pocket.

(6,640 posts)steals right in front of a security camera and thinks he can get away with it. Also I noticed in his previous car tab initiative, the car he couldn't afford to pay taxes on was a Mercedes. They were interviewing him in front of his garage. If you can afford an expensive car, or two cars, why is keeping the tab fees low so important??? And with the hills in the area, the last thing we need are slip-shop care of our roads.

(33,252 posts)Monson's raison d'etre is tearing down Seattle and Olympia governments. His audience consists of truck drivers and shut-ins. I had to counter his anti-Seattle bullshit with my Mother in Law until the day she died. Hopefully KIRO takes him off the air as a precondition of his candidacy.
Frankly, I'm glad they're running. Criticism is easy; governing is hard, and Eyman's been trying to cripple this state's revenues for decades through the Initiative Process.
Jay will steamroll them.
