Trump at war with Pentagon after meddling in Gallagher case and turning it into a ‘national clown show’: report

Published 1 min ago on December 1, 2019

................
...............................

..................The Times reports that, “The president’s handling of the case has distressed active-duty and retired officers and the civilians who work closely with them. Mr. Trump’s intervention, they said, emboldens war criminals and erodes the order of a professional military.”

According to Peter Feaver, a military specialist who served under former President George W. Bush, Trump is sticking his nose in internal Pentagon affairs best left to those who know what they are doing...............................

The Times notes, “As a result, the president finds himself more removed than ever from a disenchanted military command, adding the armed forces to the institutions under his authority that he has feuded with, along with the intelligence community, law enforcement agencies and diplomatic corps.”

Speaking with the Times, Chris Shumake, a former sniper who served with Gallagher, Trump has turned the administration of justice into a national spectacle that is hurting the military.

“It’s blown up bigger than any of us could have ever expected, and turned into a national clown show that put a bad light on the teams,” Mr. Shumakeexplained. “He’s trying to show he has the troops’ backs, but he’s saying he doesn’t trust any of the troops or their leaders to make the right decisions.”.................................................

Maybe this will be ENOUGH for the Congressional Repugs?? Silent so far so I doubt it.
Yet, Trump goes to Afgan and the Troops play along (I do not believe they have a choice)

Unless they're given an unlawful order, no. And to be honest, that's a good thing. We don't want the military involving itself in political affairs, even if the politicians attempt to involve them. As citizens, they can make their voices heard the same was we do.

Intelligence community? Hates him from the start. Knew what was happening in 2016 as it played out.

Justice? Not fans, but are being sat on by an immense Jabba the Barr.

State department? Thinks he's nuts.

and now.....

Military? Think his ham handed meddling is damaging and dangerous.

Well, I guess he will always have the Gestapo in Homeland Security. Ironic, really. Since it's inception, that name has had a 3rd world dictator feel.

to what end? Dunno. Privatize it all to his and Rudy's cronies? Maybe that's it. It's all about the Oligarchs. For Vlad? Maybe that's it, fealty, Teutonic or otherwise, or kompromat-driven. Maybe that's it. Weaken us for occupation? It's possible.

But like everything Trump does, who knows?

Steve Bannon - "deconstruction of the administrative state" -

'Deconstruction of the administrative state' is the plan, Bannon tells conservatives

By Philip Rucker The Washington Post

February 23, 2017 03:44 PM

OXON HILL, Md.

Stephen Bannon, President Trump's reclusive chief strategist and the intellectual force behind his nationalist agenda, said Thursday that the new administration is locked in an unending battle against the media and other globalist forces to "deconstruct" an outdated system of governance.

In his first public speaking appearance since Trump took office, Bannon made his comments alongside White House chief of staff Reince Priebus at a gathering of conservative activists. They sought to prove that they are not rivals but partners in fighting on Trump's behalf to transform Washington and the world order. "They're going to continue to fight," Bannon said of the media, which he repeatedly described as "the opposition party," and other forces he sees as standing in the president's way. "If you think they are giving you your country back without a fight, you are sadly mistaken."

Atop Trump's agenda, Bannon said, was the "deconstruction of the administrative state" -- meaning a system of taxes, regulations and trade pacts that the president and his advisers believe stymie economic growth and infringe upon one's sovereignty. "If you look at these Cabinet nominees, they were selected for a reason, and that is deconstruction," Bannon said. He posited that Trump's announcement withdrawing from the Trans-Pacific Partnership was "one of the most pivotal moments in modern American history."

Bannon and Priebus advanced the administration's war against the media in a joint appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference, where they were interviewed on stage by Matt Schlapp, president of the American Conservative Union, which hosts the gathering. Last week, Trump tweeted an extraordinary condemnation of the media, tweeting that news organizations were "the enemy of the American people."

But you can be sure that Republicans would claim it was a dictatorial persecution of political opposition, just as their harrassment of Biden is.

On the surface the prosecution of political opponents is not a good thing in a democracy. The difference is that their "investigation" of Biden is phony and done for personal political gain. An investigation of Trump's cronies would be based on actual criminal behavior. However, few people on either side would understand the distinction.'

They can advise him until the cows come home, but if he chooses to ignore their advice and gives them an order, they're bound to follow it unless it's unlawful. By the same token, they can't go around publicly shooting their mouths off about him or his decisions.

That's what got Stanley McChrystal in trouble. He and his aides talked shit about Biden (and others) to a journalist, and he got pulled back Stateside and Obama "accepted his resignation." In reality, he got fired but they played nice about it.

Obama is not a vindictive man, but McChrystal still got bounced out of the service. Trump is a vindictive man, so imagine how many orders of magnitude worse it'd be for anyone who talked shit about him to a journalist.

Perhaps we don't have to fear the military, steeped in Religiousity and conservative (ie Republican) ideology, will back Trump if he calls any election loss an illegal coup and order the military to back him up. I actually have had concerns about that.

Maybe he has pissed off enough commanders and even rank and file, to the point that is now for sure out of the question.
