Van Drew pledges 'undying support' for Trump as he switches parties
Source: Politico
Rep. Jeff Van Drew on Thursday formally became a Republican, pledging his "undying support" for Donald Trump as the ex-Democrat sat next to the president in the White House.
I believe that this is just a better fit for me, the New Jersey lawmaker said, following a meeting with Trump Thursday afternoon. This is who I am.

"Undying support"?
this goes WAY beyond a freaking cult; Stalin would be jealous of Trump

Now that he has what he wants he thinks he will be ok as the seat he won was Republican prior to his winning on the Democratic ticket.

(28,167 posts)simply saw no way for him to move up inside the party at that time so rather than try and fight for a spot among his own he took a longer but riskier road into higher office by running as a Democrat and once he secured that he allowed his true colors to fly free.

(1,980 posts)Either he has always been R and just said he was D to get the job, or ... something very fishy has happened. Democrats do NOT have the lack of values that Republican politicians have. Did he show GOP colors before? Where have his values aligned during his campaign and while in his office? is it an issue of gerrymandering?
Something is just wrong about this - Democrats and Republicans are SO FAR APART that it is almost impossible for them to be so similar that they could just cross over this easily.
but - having said that - VOTE HIM O.U.T.

(10,297 posts)never go beyond back rubs for whipping the vote. You must not yet know that Steve Scalise is the Repuke Whip, and his ball-breaking underlings are the most vicious in the memory of the U.S. House.
If you cross Trump, McCarthy, or Scalise, you will sneak away on a 1-way trip to a remote village south of Patagonia, and spend the rest of your life pulling guts out of fish.

(14,565 posts)But I agree. If the worst happens, this reminds me of some Hollywood tale of the schmuck that seemingly picks the wrong horse, and is ridiculed by that decision, and then a miracle happens and his party wins, and he's made the Minister of Information or something , and one of the most powerful people in the country, who then "gets back" at all those that dared to laugh at him earlier.
Maybe I'm being influenced because I watched Joker last night.

The cancer has metastasized throughout all the lymph nodes of GOP politics. Time to kill (not literally for PC sake) the disease within or just ask how much time we got doc. The 100 million not voting last election could be the chemo/radiation our country needs to eradicate this disease. Then destroy the carcenigen that is the root cause of our sickness, Putin financed Murdock.
