Trump announces the US will join 1 trillion tree initiative

Source: The Hill

President Trump on Tuesday announced the United States will join the One Trillion Trees Initiative launched at the World Economic Forum as world leaders seek to combat climate change.

Trump made the announcement during an address to global business leaders gathered for the annual event in Davos, Switzerland.

"We're committed to conserving he majesty of God’s creation and the natural beauty of our world," Trump said, adding that the U.S. "will continue to show strong leadership in restoring, growing and better managing our trees and our forests.

The announcement that the U.S. will join the initiative drew some of the most sustained applause of any portion of Trump's 30-minute speech, which focused mostly on his administration's accomplishments and the strength of the U.S. economy. That economic message contrasted with other world leaders who used the forum to highlight issues like climate change and global collaboration.

Climate change was a central issue leading up to this week's World Economic Forum. The One Trillion Trees Initiative followed remarks by an ecologist last year that planting 1.2 trillion trees could neutralize carbon dioxide emissions.

Is careful not to mention the benefit trees have on the environment...

On average, one acre of new forest can sequester about 2.5 tons of carbon annually. Young trees absorb CO2 at a rate of 13 pounds per tree each year. Trees reach their most productive stage of carbon storage at about 10 years at which point they are estimated to absorb 48 pounds of CO2 per year.

cutting down every tree to start a new SFR development. They simply refuse to leave a few and work around them. It's difficult, but possible.

He sure as shit isn't going to do this without profiting off of it.

The research was extremely sloppy. The researchers proposed planting trees on millions of acres of land typically covered in prairie or savanna, which are themselves carbon-sequestering, ecologically rich habitats.

We can't get out of our carbon hole appreciably by planting trees. Only quitting fossil fuels and letting land revert to it's natural state can do that.

He's so against the notion of Climate change, this is just talk.
Anything that helps us, will be tabooed by him, why do we even listen.
The only thing we need to listen to is what regulations are being destroyed to cause climate change,
any regulation the Democrats want or have put in place.
He is the scariest person I fear for the lives of Americans every where and especially in the US.

We don't always get news of what Trump and his cronies are doing behind the Tweets. We need to focus on what he is doing behind his buffoonish acts and speeches.
The News media is never focused on what important.
We need better news reporting.

How dumb is he? He's so dumb he doesn't realize taking the lead on an issue like this could actually help his ratings. He could have taken his massive ego and gotten behind this idea 2 years ago and proclaimed he was the leader of the 'Save the Earth' campaign. As it is, I will believe we participate in this project when I see it...……...
