Poll: Voters still support Trump's removal, but backing has dipped

Source: Politico

As the impeachment trial against President Donald Trump prepares to kick off in full force later Wednesday, a slim plurality of registered voters favor the president’s conviction and removal from office, though overall support has dipped, according to the latest POLITICO/Morning Consult poll.

The survey — conducted beginning Friday, one day after senators were sworn in for the trial, through Sunday — found 47 percent of voters in favor of Trump’s removal, with 45 percent opposed.

The results follow a trend of incrementally weakening support since the House voted to impeach Trump late last month.

A POLITICO/Morning Consult flash poll in the immediate aftermath of the vote found that voters backed removal by a 52-43 percent margin. But a later poll, conducted earlier this month after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi delayed sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate, found hat support for removal had dropped 3 points, to 49 percent, with the percentage of voters opposed to removal remaining the same.

That sure, there may be a little spike for a few days after these "rules" are discussed in the media. But the GOP focuses on the long game. It could be argued that they successfully painted the Mueller findings as totally exhonerating the President, and weakening the Democrats charges against Trump.

So they know all they have to do is quick as they can, declare Trump innocent, and the Democrats having wasted a lot of time and money for the American people. Months will pass by and although us in the political junkie world will remain informed and angry, many more Americans who don't follow more than a glance at the TV headlines, and mostly from Fox News, will eventually come to the same conclusion they did of the Mueller Report. That is was some kind of failed Democratic led coup, because they are so weak land lazy at their jobs, the "do nothing" Democrats.

I fear that all this won't do more than at least set this period down in history that Democrats did the right thing, even if it did not help them to win. I still am optimistic they will win in November, but it will have to be something like a failing economy, or some new scandal that effects Trump voters.

What other way can we remove a sitting president?
The rules of Impeachment and Impeachment trials should be defined so this kind of trial? can never happen again.
Our founders did not realize the deviousness that exist.

However, we were handcuffed in the mueller investigation when the rules were changed because the country never wanted another crapshow ken Starr put on for President Clinton. It seems everytime rules change it screws the Democratic Party.

But that option faded when he replaced some of the sensible people on his cabinet with nut jobs worse than him. They see insanity as the norm.

I'm seeing network polling today showing that 52% figure on removal is pretty consistent. If the house managers keep laying this stuff out like they did last night, that number is bound to go up.
