Kellyanne Conway bewilderingly argues the Vindman brothers weren't fired

Source: The Week

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway would like to make a distinction.

Conway on Monday disputed the idea that Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman and his brother, Yevgeney Vindman, were fired from their posts at the National Security Council in retaliation for the former's testimony during the House impeachment inquiry. In fact, Conway said President Trump didn't fire them at all. Instead, she said they were simply being reassigned to their original jobs because National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien has wanted to trim down a "bloated staff" since he took over.

Not everyone is buying this, especially because some people believe it's quite clear Trump wanted Vindman's removal to be seen as revenge.

But Conway wants to know why Trump would have waited so long to get rid of impeachment witnesses. "Victory is the ultimate statement," she said, referring to Trump's acquittal in the Senate. "If he wanted to clean house of the testifiers he could have done that quite a while ago." Tim O'Donnell

It is just a coincidence the two brothers were chosen to trim down a bloated staff and it came right after his so called avquittal. The only bloat that should be trimmed down is trump.

She has enough money to hire a good stylist to take care of her daily grooming needs.

She’d have to, since she has no reflection in a mirror.

But to answer your question: Yes, she does. They all do. They've been raised from birth to believe that they're the only ones with any intelligence whatsoever. Which would be hilarious if they didn't have power.

I had this very conversation with someone on FaceBook about being escorted to the door and he still claimed they weren't fired, they were reassigned.

in the most humiliating manner. And what about the brother? His only "impropriety" as far as I know was being related to Vindman. No matter how they want to spin it, it still doesn't make how they handled it right

he had assaulted a clemson football player on national tv after an interception. punched him in the neck.

the next day, woody hayes was no longer part of ohio state football.

however, he was a tenured professor of military history (where oddly enough, a lot of football players took courses known to be easy and got remarkably good grades) so he was allowed to keep his job.

so, technically, not fired.

but to people who paid attention to football, he was fired as head coach, which was all they cared about.

in some outrageous conspiracy plot.

Honestly, how could it be both? If they were in on some plot, they should be cashiered immediately, no? How can they be conspiring against the President AND allowed to remain in the Army?

Of course, actually removing them from their commissions would likely require the very thing that acts like kryptonite for Trumpies: an actual institutional procedure with formal rules of evidence.

Having them escorted also makes sense. If you distrust somebody--or don't trust them that much--you want to let them know they're leaving a highly sensitive job with maybe 2 seconds' notice. Otherwise they might take something that you don't think is important but which contains information.

I've escorted an employee to the door minutes after getting his computer access and building-access codes terminated. As we walked into his office to escort him out, he was just beginning to complain about the network failure that logged him out. He was escorted out not because he was a great risk, but because things were difficult enough and he was a non-zero risk. (And because 8 hours later I no longer had the authority to remove him, and nobody would have that authority for 3 months.)

The intent to down-size the NSC staff was reported on at least a month ago.

Both things can be true.

The substance of what she is saying is true. The NSC is an assignment. They went back to work at the Pentagon.

AND

They were sent away as punishment by a vindictive prick clearing the way for future misdoing and intimidating anyone that might stand up to him.

Both of these things are true.
