MANCHESTER, N.H. Andrew Yang, a Democratic businessman who campaigned on giving every adult American a monthly check for $1,000, will end his campaign for president after a disappointing showing in the New Hampshire primary.
I am a numbers guy, Yang said in an interview before addressing supporters at Manchesters Puritan Backroom. In most of these [upcoming] states, Im not going to be at a threshold where I get delegates, which makes sticking around not necessarily helpful or productive in terms of furthering the goals of this campaign.
Yang said he had not decided whether to endorse another candidate, though campaigns have reached out.

(149,528 posts)There are still a lot of people running and one by one, they will all leave, and we will have our candidate.
I wish there were some other way to get our candidate, but there isn't.
Best of luck in your future endeavors, Andrew Yang.

(46,684 posts)He looked down five to ten years down the road to see how technology was going to change the job market.
I hope whoever wins this race will think of Yang because we need to keep up with technology.

(32,596 posts)He got the spotlight and the attention to make some good points. I think that's all he could have hoped for, and maybe that's all he wanted. There are way too many candidates, and surely many of them are already thinking about when they'll bow out.
Thank you Mr. Yang!

(3,427 posts)He was basically the only candidate talking about the loss of jobs to AI and automation. I'm not sure his $1,000 a month UBI is the solution, but I believe this will be a much bigger issue by the 2028 election. Maybe Yang was ahead of his time.

Sure, why not? DiFi's going sooner rather than l8r. She's 86. Can't see her running again in 2024.
I think Newsom wants to go directly to the White House in 2028 after he wraps up 2 terms as CA Gov. Or a Cabinet Position before that.

Im glad he was in the race. He raised important points that the other nominees were not addressing.
