DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) President Donald Trump made a dramatic entrance at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday, setting off a raucous celebration at the famed NASCAR track.
Thousands cheered as Air Force One performed a flyover and landed at Daytona International Airport a few hundred yards behind the track. Trumps motorcade arrived a few minutes later, prompting another loud ovation. Both entrances were broadcast on giant video boards around the superspeedway.
At least a dozen drivers were escorted from the pre-race meeting to a private introduction with Trump.
I got to meet the president! How cool is that? driver Aric Almirola said.

(8,200 posts)Trump is just a another demagogue who shares the same attributes as Hitler. In Germany it was the Jews who were the blame for German's failures, today its the Blacks and Hispanics. The White racists are dominated by the lower educated people who have failed to equip themselves to thrive in today's economy and blame their plight on the minorities who will soon be the majority. Trump is their man and he has proven it by giving the highest civilian honor to one of the most powerful disseminators of racism in our times.
They are going to be caught in a two edged sword; no talents to survive and soon to in the minority. Also it is not surprising the many of these people have been convinced by religious charlatans that the end of the world is at hand. It is nothing new. Their ilk have been predicting it as being emanate for the last 2,000 years.

(630 posts)For a period earlier in my life, i was a fairly avid fan. Trump, and the sport's fellating of him, cured me of it awhile ago, but I'd still nominally pay attention to my favorite driver. No more. Fuck that nonsense. There are innumerable other reasons not to watch (climate implications both direct and represented by the companies involved), the corporate kowtowing, poorer racing in recent years, the military hero worship, to name a few. But this takes it. Not another dime or eyeball from me, and they can ill afford to lose more fans.

I bet all of the "Bikers for Trump" were represented as well. The thing is, Trump and his soft-pornstar wife wouldn't piss on their backs if they were on fire, but these morons think Trump is on their side and looking out for them.

(5,170 posts)it started raining and they just postponed the race until tomorrow. So, by showing up, he delayed the start and they didn't get in hardly any racing.

(15,330 posts)they'd show us 24/7 video of the rain falling on the racetrack with "breaking News-cars about to go around in circles".
Of course, all the Donnie Shit for Brains NASCAR asshats would be glued to the TV with drool pooling around their feet.
Shit! If an empty podium was "Breaking News" in 2016 because the orange asspickle was about to fart in our general direction, then an empty rainsoaked track is surely "Breaking News" in 2020.

(51,457 posts)came home to Fayetteville to attend a University of Arkansas basketball game. Air Force One had to land at Springdale due to runway length. I went and waited at a rope line to shake his hand. No speeches. Then he sat with my alderman at the game. There weren't jumbotrons nor yelling, cheering crowds. We all just went about the thing normally.

(870 posts)Tickets were free. I went since I've never been. There really wasn't as much cheering for trump as I expected. I thought I would be choking back vomit at the virtual fellating you see cult members give him, but there weren't as many cult members as I expected. Most people where I was sitting had a either a polite clapping or no response at all when he showed up.

It's a heavily geared towards conservatives because it's literally a car driving in a circle. It's simple-minded crap that doesn't take much brain power to figure out.
