Susan Collins faces competitive Senate race, poll indicates

Source: axios

22 mins ago - Politics & Policy

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) is up against a competitive challenge for her seat for the first time since 1996, according to a Colby College poll, which shows her in a statistical tie with her expected Democratic opponent.

Why it matters: As one of the most centrist Republicans in the Senate throughout Trump's presidency, Collins has served as a pivotal swing vote on a number of key issues.

She voted to confirm controversial U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in 2018, and more recently she voted to acquit Trump in the impeachment trial.

Details: 43% of those polled indicated they would vote for Maine's House Speaker Sara Gideon in the November election, compared to the 42% who supported Collins.

49% of respondents in the poll agreed with Collins' decision to acquit Trump, compared to 50% who did not. 39% of independents polled said the decision made them less likely to vote for Collins; 13% said it made them more likely to do so.........................................

Trump will be sending money to help her no doubt

... I figured that she was the worst of them all. She was the most dependable party-line voter as long as the GOP had a chance to win the vote.

Only when they couldn't win was Collins allowed to go out and pretend to care about disgusting things like Americans.

I honestly thought, twenty years ago, that Susan Collins would eventually have some crisis of conscience that forced her to take a stand and leave the GOP. It never happened. There was a pretty critical ACA vote that she swung on, but if I remember right even then it was that two other GOP Senators flipped and Collins' vote would no longer make the difference.

Collins never left the GOP because she's one of the worst humans to ever walk the earth.

A new poll has our campaign leading against Senator Collins.

Mitch McConnell and special interests are going to pour *even more money* into her reelection campaign. I know that we can win this race, but we need your help to fight back.

"needtovote". IIRC, Bloomberg is also spending money to assist in state elections.

She needs to go, along with many others - but start with her for her vote for Beer Bong Brett getting him on the Supremes. She spewed lies then in explaining that vote, and she just did the same thing when she acquitted the blatantly guilty orange asshole of his impeachment crimes. I’m beyond sickened by her hypocrisy.

did not.

That is remarkable that 49% (out of 1003 polled in the poll that 501 people) of the population that vote in Maine think that her decision was correct...................so to the 49% since that poll was taken now what do you think of that vote--------------do you think the traitor learned his lesson...............really.................no wonder this country is screwed...............I mean really...............
