New Trump Disability Rule Targets Non-English Speakers

Source: huff post

Too many Puerto Ricans are getting disability benefits, the administration claims.

The Trump administration is finalizing a new rule barring Social Security disability examiners from considering someone’s inability to speak English as a factor in whether they should be eligible for benefits.

It’s one of several cuts to Social Security Disability Insurance that President Donald Trump is pursuing as part of an overall assault on “welfare.” The push circumvents Congress with a series of regulations targeting food, health and housing benefits.

The federal government pays disability benefits worth about $1,200 per month to people with extensive employment histories who can’t continue working due to the onset of a severe illness or injury.

Part of the claims process can involve evaluating whether someone could switch to a new line of work that would accommodate their disability. The evaluation considers not just a person’s physical or mental impediments, but also their age, work history, education level, and the availability of suitable jobs. ..........................

I'd say most of this is coming from the evil, twisted mind of Stephen Miller...the man hates people of color.

Who are already suffering. He wants more suffering.

He makes me ashamed.

What can we do to end this cruelty?

The ones who own this are the Republicans in the House and Senate and they have had the power all this time to halt his excesses but instead they have chosen to be his co-conspirators so they should be the ones we should focus on taking care of by running them out office.
After that we should pursue investigations into their actions and file criminal charges for any crimes they may have committed with few to no plea bargains granted.

It's sickening.

And I'm pretty sure they don't consider Puerto Ricans Americans.

Out west, there are plenty of people who were forced to learn English at school but went back to their tribes and haven't spoken a word of it for 50 years or more. There are also small settlements around here where Hispanics whose families settled here before his moronic family ever heard of the Americas who speak very little English. Trying to deny the benfits of citizenship to either of those groups is just not going to work.
