Trump says Roger Stone has 'very good chance of exoneration' hours after sentencing

Source: NBC News

President Donald Trump said his former adviser Roger Stone has "a very good chance of exoneration," hours after the GOP operative was sentenced to 40 months behind bars for obstructing a congressional investigation of Russia's 2016 presidential election meddling.

"I'm following this very closely, and I want to see it play out to its fullest, because Roger has a very good chance of exoneration, in my opinion," Trump said Thursday in a speech at a Hope for Prisoners event in Las Vegas, where he also blasted the jury forewoman in Stone's criminal trial.

"It's my strong opinion that the forewoman for the jury is totally tainted," Trump said, calling the woman he didn't mention by name "an anti-Trump person, totally." "I don’t know if this is a fact, but she had a horrible social media account," he told the crowd and television cameras. "She’s I guess from what I hear a very strong woman, a very dominant person, so she can get people to do whatever she wants," he claimed.

"How can you have a jury pool tainted so badly? It's not fair," Trump said.

Yo Donny, one of the requirements of a pardon is admission of guilt.
You should know this by now.

Common misunderstanding. But pardons can be and are granted to individuals who have been wrongfully convicted. For example, DNA evidence or proof of prosecutorial misconduct sometimes is given as the reason for a pardon.

Trump can grant a pardon for any reason or no reason with or without an admission of guilt.

which might be a bad idea as he could then potentially face a stiffer sentence than he got here.
What I think will happen though is that Trump made him a deal for his silence to grant him a pardon after the election regardless if Trump wins.
Of course that isa huge mistake as then Stone can be compelled to testify under oath if Trump should go to trial and he cannot use the 5th amendment as a shield.

Like in the South. Some white boys kill a black teen. The only evidence was some black people who saw the shooting. People whose the white teens threaten the black teen. White people see them riding around in a beetle with rifles.. There was just not enough evidence to convict. Case dismissed.

Hubris! We need more hubris! That will be his down fall. It won't change minds. Opinion crystallized months ago. What's need is what will rile up our voters and get them to the polls. Fucking with equality before the law does exactly that.

Trump can have his Supreme Court vacate the judgement.

Good old Chief Justice Roberts who allowed a 'trial' with minimal (if any) witnesses or evidence.

I don't understand............why don't someone pull the plug on this White House and limit DJT's power? All those highly educated attorney's, politicians and no one does a thing to stop this crazy man - what is it going to take, complete ruination of our government, policies and country!!! I think we need strong women running this country, Elizabeth Warren, Stacy Abrams and Katie Porter. They aren't afraid of anything and these men seem to be scared to death of DJT!!!
