Richard Grenell Begins Overhauling Intelligence Office, Prompting Fears of Partisanship

Source: New York Times

WASHINGTON — Richard Grenell’s tenure as the nation’s top intelligence official may be short-lived, but he wasted no time this week starting to shape his team of advisers, ousting his office’s No. 2 official — a longtime intelligence officer — and bringing in an expert on Trump conspiracy theories to help lead the agency, according to officials.

Mr. Grenell has also requested the intelligence behind the classified briefing last week before the House Intelligence Committee where officials told lawmakers that Russia was interfering in November’s presidential election and that President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia favored President Trump’s re-election. The briefing later prompted Mr. Trump’s anger as he complained that Democrats would use it against him.

Joseph Maguire, the former acting director of national intelligence, and his deputy, Andrew P. Hallman, resigned on Friday. Mr. Grenell told Mr. Hallman, popular in the office’s Liberty Crossing headquarters, that his service was no longer needed, according to two officials. Mr. Hallman, who has worked in the office or at the C.I.A. for three decades, expressed confidence in his colleagues in a statement but also referred to the “uncertainties that come with change.”

The ouster of Mr. Hallman and exit of Mr. Maguire, who also oversaw the National Counterterrorism Center, allowed Mr. Grenell to install his own leadership team.

Have a lot of folks to fire after Trump. This is especially true in the intelligence community.

while attacking our intelligence professionals. Like Nunes. Like Rand Paul. Doing Russia’s work for them. Traitors all.

He wants to find out who was working exposing the Russian election interference and then Trump can frog march them out. Plus he does want to learn sources and methods to give his owner Vlad a heads up.
Our country is in really bad shape. How long before FBI Director Wray is fired and replaced by Sean Hannity; acting director mind you, just a short term affair.

Maguire needs to go public about how he was fired.

First, Trump will go after the analysts, firing any he considers "disloyal" to him.

Then he'll provide his BFF Putin with a list of all of the human assets in Russia who provide intel. Putin will do more than just fire them -- he'll have them killed. Every. Single. One. Of. Them.

All because Trump is an insecure psychopath.

To me he can do a lot of damage in 200 days, that's not really "short" termed. Besides, Trump can just appoint another stooge cronie as acting director after 200 days. Pretty soon all of our department heads will be acting directors.

into the rabbit hole. Soon, we will all trust no one — the intelligence agencies, law enforcement and the justice system, elections, the media. We will wonder whether up is really down and wrong is really right.

The Holocaust Museum is the most impactful interpretive facility I have ever experienced. What I found most astounding and frightening was how the rise of Nazi Germany and the holocaust actually occurred. Bit by seemingly not so significant bit. We are seeing the same inch by inch progression here on American soil now before our own eyes. We had better find a means to rise up and prevail soon or in the not so distant future we may well be repeating the stark realization that “Then they came for us.”
