Trump slams Sotomayor and Ginsburg, says they should recuse themselves from 'Trump-related' cases

Source: Washington Post

President Trump went after Supreme Court Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg in a pair of tweets and at a news conference in India on Tuesday, days after Sotomayor issued a dissent critical of both the Trump administration's legal strategy and the court's majority for enabling it.

Tweeting just before appearing in a welcome ceremony at the Indian ceremonial president's residence in New Delhi, Trump cited a Laura Ingraham segment on Fox News titled, "Sotomayor accuses GOP-appointed justices of being biased in favor of Trump." He then called on Sotomayor and also Ginsburg to recuse themselves in "all Trump, or Trump-related, matters!"
...
He doubled down on his criticism during a news conference Tuesday in New Delhi, telling reporters that the basis for his belief that the justices should recuse themselves was "very obvious."
"I always thought, frankly, that Justice Ginsburg should do it, because she went wild during the campaign when I was running," he said. "I don't know who she was for -- perhaps she was for Hillary Clinton, if you can believe it --but she said some things that were obviously very inappropriate....

President Trump said in New Delhi on Feb. 25 it was "highly inappropriate" for Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor to criticize his administration on Feb. 24. (Reuters)
Trump's comments targeting Sotomayor and Ginsburg come as he has faced criticism for targeting sitting judges and injecting politics into the judiciary. It's not unusual for a president to criticize decisions of the Supreme Court and the lower courts. Most have avoided singling out a judge or justice by name, as Trump does, or challenging their fairness and integrity.

Of course. Those Justices should be recusing themselves.

This is definitely an attempted divide-and-conquer along any patriarchal sexist lines that might exist within the court itself.

Chief Justice John Roberts could be constitutional enough to rebuff these calls by the Executive to tell him and his justices what to do.

He should also be feminist to do it on just this exact occasion.

No lower court will support the dictator so he uses Barr and the Supreme Court as his enforcers.

But higher than the Supreme Court is the court of public opinion.

And having the backing of only 1% isn’t enough in that venue.

have saved if they'd only wanted to be free?

Who says the lower court rulings will matter once the highest is suborned by a dictator? In a nation of men, money beats merit at the lower court levels.

At the highest lawyer war levels, the offense are the inferior attorney insurgents who daily shove rule of men at their enemy, the superior lawyers who defend a nation of unenforceable laws.

The Final Battle is of hearts and minds. If you want to talk numbers of opponents, this war never needed to happen if minds of the many had been clear, not muddled, about these few insurgents -- from their first appearance.

The horror the few have brought upon the many lasts a long time, because as plantation and abolition history show us, freedom is given up for the safety of misery until the many's very lives are at stake.

Never write: "Trump slams Sotomayor and Ginsburg..."

But rather: "Trump Wheezingly Whimpers and Whines About Sotomayor and Ginsburg..."
