Trump privately vents over coronavirus even as he publicly insists everything is fine
Source: CNN
President Donald Trump has privately expressed frustration in recent days about some of the ways his administration is confronting a spreading coronavirus outbreak, according to people familiar with the conversations. Publicly, he has expressed optimism that the virus is "going to go away."
Trump was initially upset that some Americans who tested positive for coronavirus were allowed back into the United States for quarantine instead of remaining in Asia, though on Tuesday he acknowledged it was ultimately the right thing to allow them back into the country.
And he's sided with officials in Alabama who have protested a federal government plan to quarantine some patients in the state, despite federal officials insisting it wouldn't pose a threat to residents.
After both incidents, Trump told people around him he wants to fire those responsible for the decisions, though it doesn't appear anyone has been terminated. Trump hasn't specified particular individuals, venting instead at the broader situation.

(2,906 posts)...we already cannot afford to host any further vacancies in agencies dealing with public health crisis management.
This does not bode well in the confidence department for the US being ready to deal with a sudden outbreak in North America...

Because of an early decision I made,
I made a decision, Trump said.
I believe it was the first time its ever been done. We closed the country to certain areas (of the world), as you know. And I was criticized for that decision. Now theyre saying it was a good decision.
He also said that most of the Americans known to have been infected with the virus have recovered or are on their way to recovery. We are down to -- were really down to probably 10, Trump said. Most of the people are outside of danger right now.
Theres a very good chance youre not going to die, from a coronavirus infection, Trump said.

ACTING DEPUTY secretary of Homeland Security is out there alarming people that the government is a kakistocracy by tweeting that he can't access Johns Hopkins database because it went behind some kind of wall.
1) Amateurs tweet such things in crisis.
2) Professionals pick up the phone and call the University / Hospital with the request, discreetly, without alarming anyone.
3) They are that uncoordinated.
4) They are scraping the barrel to get anybody to fill important posts and so many haven't been confirmed despite the RepubliCONs having the Senate. They can't govern and they can't get elected without trickery and crimes.

Donald Trump is the asshole who defunded the CDC and got rid of his pandemic experts. If there's one man who's most responsible for the coronavirus problem...it's Trump.
