Just before 10 p.m., the hospital published the memo that was sent to employees by UC Davis Health leaders earlier in the day and outlines the timeline of the patients admission and disclosed that several employees who were exposed to the patient self-isolate at home out of abundance of caution.
The patient, whom the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed has tested positive the COVID-19 strain, was moved to the Sacramento teaching hospital on Feb. 19, according to the memo sent to staffers by David Lubarsky, the head of the hospital and UC Davis Healths vice chancellor of human health services, and Brad Simmons, the health systems interim CEO.
This is not the first COVID-19 patient we have treated, and because of the precautions we have had in place since this patients arrival, we believe there has been minimal potential for exposure here at UC Davis Medical Center, the memo said.
The patient was transferred to the facility from another hospital, where a medical team had already put the patient on a ventilator.
The individual is a resident of Solano County and is receiving medical care in Sacramento County. The individual had no known exposure to the virus through travel or close contact with a known infected individual, California Department of Public Health officials said in a news release.

(36,423 posts)and I'm losing track of the numbers
Sacramento is treating one patient*
Sonoma is treating one patient (not Sonoma, but Napa)
Contra Costa is treating three patients
Marin County is treating one patient
San Mateo is treating one patient
* Then I heard this morning, Sacramento got bumped up to four.
Are they playing musical chairs with the patients?

(51,590 posts)is incubated in the body without symptoms, how early you can spread it to others, how long after you are exposed you become ill and show symptoms, etc. I keep thinking about AIDS and how you could spread it to others for years before becoming ill yourself. Fortunately this isn't as bad as that but I really wish they had more tests besides just taking your temperature once you develop symptoms.
I am SO glad I am not teaching 1st graders right now!

That's really scary. Reports last night were that the patient is in critical condition and still on a ventilator. Sending prayers and light to this woman.

(36,423 posts)Turns out, it's a woman, and she spent eleven days in a Vacaville hospital, and it appears she wasn't in isolation! It wasn't until her condition went south and she was transferred the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento where she was tested for coronavirus.
Eleven days! And there's no way of telling how many people she came into casual contact with!

Hell, my next door neighbor works at the Vacaville hospital so I guess I'm going to avoid her like the plague for the next two weeks.
