Trump Names Mark Meadows Chief of Staff, Ousting Mick Mulvaney

Source: New York Times

President Trump said Friday that Representative Mark Meadows, Republican of North Carolina and a stalwart conservative ally, will become White House chief of staff, replacing Mick Mulvaney, who has served as the acting chief for more than a year.

Mr. Trump announced the change on Twitter. He said that Mr. Mulvaney, a former Republican lawmaker, will become the United States special envoy for Northern Ireland, shaking up his battle-weary team as he leaves impeachment behind him and faces a high-octane election campaign that will test whether he can defy the odds once again to win a second term.

where he could implement the tea party agenda. That's why he insisted on being "temporary" chief of staff. Trump sure fooled him sending him off to Ireland instead.

I wonder how Stephen Miller will like having to report to Meadows knowing about his mixed-race family?

Mark Meadows accused of timing retirement to help elect wife’s friend
Republicans in Western North Carolina are grumbling about his last-minute announcement, which boxed out a number of elected officials.

Rep. Mark Meadows' shock retirement — revealed just 30 hours before the filing deadline in North Carolina — has roiled some Republicans in the state who suspect he timed his announcement to benefit a friend of his wife.

The four-term congressman will depart the House for an as-yet-undefined role with President Donald Trump, a decision he disclosed in an interview with POLITICO Playbook that published around 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 19, ahead of the filing deadline at noon on Dec. 20.
---------------------------------------
Online records revealed her campaign website domain had been registered on Oct. 28 by a Scott Meadows, who appears to be the brother of the congressman. The campaign's Facebook page was created on Dec. 18, a day before the retirement. And shortly after midnight on Dec. 19 — about five hours before Meadows announced — Bennett posted photos of herself with the congressman and his wife at local GOP events in the state.

WTF is a special envoy? Is it like the "special advisor to the president" position that Ivanka holds?

Actually, Mulvaney probably considers anything that gets him far away from the Mad King a promotion.

and there is an Acting in there at the moment, so who knows what will happen? At some point, a new OMB person needs to be confirmed by the Senate I expect, since there was no suggestion that he would be returning to that position.

Don't let the door hit you in the ass as you leave Western NC--you weren't from around here anyway!

Funny for you...this stupid job you just took will only last about 10 months---you just jumped on a sinking ship! But chin up, maybe Trump will give you a job at Trump University or Trump Steaks or Trump Vodka after he leaves the White House!

Good news---We've got an excellent Democratic candidate--Moe Davis (retired Air Force Lawyer) who has a real chance since the redistricting. Not to mention the Republicans have a run-off after the primary.
