Former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) lambasted her former colleague Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) Tuesday morning on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," calling him an "embarrassing tool."
"Morning Joe" co-host Joe Scarborough was talking about how President Trump has continued to shake the hands of supporters, despite the recommendations from his coronavirus task force not to do so, when McCaskill steered the conversation to another topic: Johnson and his committee's investigation into Hunter Biden, the son of former Vice President Joe Biden.

"He is chairman of the Homeland Security Committee! Right? He has jurisdiction over coronavirus and the federal response. Is he calling a hearing? Is he trying to figure out why first responders tests aged on a shelf in the state of Washington until they were no longer good? Is he going to tell people why they cant get the test? No," she continued.
"Even though it's not in his committees jurisdiction the Judiciary Committee is not issuing subpoenas on Hunter Biden. The Foreign Affairs Committee is not issuing subpoenas on Hunter Biden. No! This joke, Ron Johnson, is actually politicizing a committee that right now should have one focus: What is going on with the United States of Americas federal response to the coronavirus? People should be really angry about this," McCaskill added.

(6,187 posts)With regards to his chairmanship of the Homeland Security Committee. I would love to know what he knew about 2016 Russian election interference IN WISCONSIN and when he knew it.
Not much of a Homeland Security Chairman if the Russians are interfering with federal elections in your home state right under your nose.
To follow below.
Maybe he will earn the title "Homeland Security Chairman" in the 2020 elections by exposing the Russian's continued interference in our elections.

(7,487 posts)He still brags about it on his Senate website: https://www.portman.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/portman-durbin-shaheen-and-senate-ukraine-caucus-reaffirm-commitment-help|
As members of the U.S. Senate Ukraine Caucus and strong supporters of your government, we write to express our concern regarding the recent resignation of Minister of Economy Aivaras Abromavi?ius? and his allegations of persistent corruption in the Ukrainian political system. Succeeding in these reforms will show Russian President Vladimir Putin that an independent, transparent, and democratic Ukraine can and will succeed. It also offers a stark alternative to the authoritarianism and oligarchic cronyism prevalent in Russia. As such, we respectfully ask that you address the serious concerns raised by Minister Abromaviius?.
We similarly urge you to press ahead with urgent reforms to the Prosecutor General's office and judiciary. The unanimous adoption by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Basic Principles and Action Plan is a good step.

(639 posts)The worst possible example of a bad politician was Wisconsin's Sen Joe McCarthy from the 1950's.
So after gerrymandering every square inch of the state, the GOP went with Ron Johnson who replaced Sen Russ Feingold.
We still can't get rid of him too soon.
Wisconsin is a mess and the Dems need a popular vote near 65% to even get close to winning any statewide Assembly or Senate seat.
