Health officials called to 'emergency meeting' at White House- Rep. Maloney
Source: Reuters
NEW YORK, March 11 (Reuters) - Health officials scheduled to testify at a congressional hearing on the fast-moving coronavirus outbreak on Wednesday are being called to an "emergency meeting" at the White House later today, Rep. Carolyn Maloney said, noting that the hearing would have to end early.
The witnesses, who include National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Robert Redfield, will have to leave early, so the meeting will end at 11:45 ET, she said.
Maloney said that she did not have additional details about the meeting, except that it is urgent. (Reporting by Michael Erman, Editing by Franklin Paul)

I don't know why the article says the meeting is tomorrow. This morning's meeting must be the meeting Maloney says they'll have to leave early to meet with the White House. The only thing scheduled for tomorrow has to do with the impact of the virus on small businesses.

(14,491 posts)1. From my daily perusing of international news sites, everywhere I go they're saying "the United States is way behind the curve with attacking this pandemic". Perhaps some very powerful world leaders are pressuring him to get of his ass, execute a massive plan and let the world know about it to calm the fears. This virus knows no borders.
2. Same as above except pressure from high level business and banking leaders who must be scared shitless that a very deep recession or even a depression could occur if this thing is not slowed very soon.

Article:
Separately, representatives of Facebook, Google, Apple, Microsoft, Twitter and Amazon will meet, either in person or remotely, with U.S. Chief Technology Officer Michael Kratsios, according to Politico. Other White House officials may join in. The topic is expected to how to better coordinate a response to the outbreak, possibly including how to stop the spread of misinformation.
More likely including how to stop the spread of information, period.
I'll bet the crap hits the fan.

(22,129 posts)very poor CV responses by this administration will go very far. After all, I think (imho) that doctors all have a 'do not do further harm' ethics, so anything that the admin. tries to impose to stifle the spread of helpful information on the spread of CV etc., won't avail, hopefully.

(24,504 posts)It will be the cities and large population centers most at risk for the virus. Rural, isolated regions, not so much. Overwhelmingly, these urban areas are Democratic strongholds.
Given Trump's need to win to stay out of jail and his inability to consider the consequences of his actions in this matter, I think he'd be happy to see 10 million Americans that live in the urban centers get the virus and die.

They arent even very good liars, are they?
