Are Polls Skewed Too Heavily Against Republicans?

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by muriel_volestrangler (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: The Atlantic

Probably not: As the chorus of complaints from the right grows louder, pollsters say there are simply more people who identify as Democrats.

It has become a recurring refrain among some Republican pundits and observers each time a new poll shows President Obama or downballot Democrats doing well: Check the party composition.
...
"The intended effect is to suppress Republican turnout through media polling bias," McLaughlin said.

Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion in Poughkeepsie, New York, is unconvinced. "Why would pollsters want to look inaccurate?" Miringoff asked rhetorically in a phone interview.

When the facts conflict with right-wing biases, the typical Repub will always attack the facts rather than reassess his or her biases.

that voter turnout will mirror 2010, but every pollster (except Rasumssen) knows that you cannot model turnout for a presidential year election based on data from a non-presidential year election.

Election night 2012 on Faux News: "See; WE WERE RIGHT and all the polls were wrong." "The polls WERE too Democratically skewed."
I don't like this at all. They're trying to set the table for the "upset Romney/Ryan victory."

They are now "Independents". So if you add up the Repubs and the IndyPubs you get a much larger sampling.. even larger than the Democrats.
