MSNBC host and fierce Trump critic urges Americans to support the president

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough has spent the past few years slamming pretty much all things Trump-related, but on Tuesday, in the face of the growing pandemic, he had this change of heart:
We only have one president at a time. We have to do everything we can do to make sure this president succeeds.
Scarborough explained that, despite being no fan of Trump, he believes Monday could mark a new beginning for the president following his bungled attempts to battle against the spread of the coronavirus.
Were all joined together as a country, fighting an epidemic that could end up let me say this again, based on the study that got to the White House yesterday kill more people, kill more Americans than died in World War II, World War I, the Civil War, and Vietnam, he said.

Scarborough should be ashamed of himself.

(11,309 posts)the steps taken by Governors, health care workers and those people who follow the advice to stay at home as much as possible. Oh, and the work done by the Democratic (with maybe some bi-partisan support) Congress. Trump and McConnell were far too late to the game to claim ANY credit for getting a handle on this. Too little too late from those assholes.

(18,618 posts)insults and revisionist BS during the 2020 election, just like they did in 2016. Joe's trying to mend fences with Trump now to get access, no doubt in preparation for corporate media's general election false equivalency orgy.
Soon Trump will be calling MJ every morning, schmoozing with Joe, Mika and Donnie Deutsch, calling for Hunter's imprisonment and claiming "sleepy Joe" is senile. The MJ panel can yuck it up with Trump for hours, pretending they're all "real journalists," not the same pack of drooling sycophants who helped him get elected the last time around.

(68,201 posts)There are some very good people on his regularly scheduled panels who would lose their main gigs if they remained on the show after he pulled something like that.
It is not in Joe's best interest to do that. Therefore, he won't do it. He knows Trump's on the skids and he doesn't want to go down with him. Simple self preservation.

(13,291 posts)We're waiting for someone who will do the job. Putting a red hat on, shaking hands and standing in the middle of a tight cluster of people on the stage (most who served as stage background, with no real purpose for being there) does not make one a president.
If Joe wants a president we can get behind, President Obama can step in and do more his first day than Fat Donnie has done since the coronavirus was first detected. He's tan, rested, and ready to go. Well, maybe not tan, but you get the gist of it.
We do not have to mindlessly follow a buffoon who lies to us every day about everything concerning the disease. We still have no clue about how quickly tests will be available, and why we haven't been using the WHO test kits that have been used in nearly every other country since the pandemic began.
Until Trump gets his act together -- don't hold your breath -- the best source of leadership is the governors. New York and New Jersey have decided to combine their efforts to battle the disease. It would be nice if other states followed their example.
The best thing Trump can do is to go to Mar-A-Lago, play golf, and STFU. With every tweet or bullshit utterance he sends the stock market down 1,000 to 3,000 points. At this rate, the market will be in negative numbers by the middle of April.

Have we ever seen him support anything but sycophantic behavior?
No.
This president, with his blackhole of insecurity, needs to resign.
Obviously, his crippling insecurity makes that difficult. Instead, this president should step back and let the experts do their jobs.
This president has not a clue what to do and he cannot figure out who to scapegoat. His participation helps absolutely no-one.

lark
(26,081 posts)In Dec. he refused the WHO test kits, handed the contract to a very small co. (16 ee and failing bad) that happens to be owned by Jared's brother and that he's part owner in. Then when they finally released the tests (8 weeks later) in was defective further delaying testing by several weeks Now that he's greatly accelerated how many Americans get sick, he is also trying to buy a German co. that would produce a vaccine only for Americans and that he can really rake in the bucks. Remember, he's already said the vaccine would probably be expensive and wouldn't be subsidized by the government. And then, to top it all off, he wants huge handouts to industry that just got billions of dollars of tax breaks that they used for their personal profit and did not do anything for their workers. He doesn't want these to be a loan like Obama did, just straight handouts.
The worst part is he is doing this so our economy totally tanks and he will then will deeply cut Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security because "EMERGENCY"!!!!!!! That is why he wants to make this outrageously big for business so he has an excuse to steal the working class's money they have already paid into the fund and Joe Scam would be the first to jump on that bandwagon.
Drumpf is killing us on purpose and for personal profit and the destruction of our country.
