Trump admits he would have ignored coronavirus even without impeachment

Source: American Independent

By Emily Singer -April 1, 2020 11:34 AM

Republicans have been trying to blame impeachment for the federal government's slow response to the coronavirus, but Trump just contradicted them.

Donald Trump on Tuesday dismissed the spreading Republican excuse that impeachment led to a slow and botched response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I don't think I would have done any better had I not been impeached," Trump said at his daily coronavirus news conference from the White House. "And I think that's a great tribute to something — maybe it's a tribute to me — but I don't think I would've acted any differently, or I don't think I would've acted any faster."

A handful of GOP lawmakers have blamed the impeachment proceedings for the Trump administration's failure to take swift action as the coronavirus spread in the United States — an admission that the Trump administration was slow to respond in and of itself.

As news of a potential outbreak surfaced in China last year, the administration ignored guidelines from a National Security Council playbook compiled in 2016 by former President Barack Obama's administration, which laid out steps Trump could have taken to stop a pandemic in its tracks, including ensuring proper diagnostic capability, stockpiling personal protective equipment and other critical tools, and delivering a "unified message" from the beginning.

Apr 2020

The potential implication in his admission, (besides making is defenders look like even bigger fools) is that he realized this was a big opportunity for him, since a weakened, shocked country becomes even easier to control while you confuse the population.

He despises this country and most of its people, (even his gullible base) and only sees it as another thing to take over and control to get whatever fix he needs. What's left after all that easy grifiting he has done so far?

So, LIHOP. This is just my opinion based on a lot of, (nauseating) observation since El Presidente stormed in.

And for once, at long last, there will be repercussions.

He doesn't want to go with Moscow Mitch's "distracted by impeachment" excuse (lame as it was, as tRump spend half of January golfing or at his disgusting Klan rallies). Nope, he's going to try to gaslight dying people and medical staff who are getting infected every day by saying that he did a great job. He still gives himself a "10" rating.

When the worst is over, and the death toll is counted, and the havoc on our medical institutions is fully realized, it will be time for Americans to vote. And he will still be patting himself on the back for a job well done.

I think all but his most brain-dead supporters will have realized by then that "owning the libs" came with a price no one thought they'd have to pay.

It's more like criminal negligence. How does this self absorbed cretin think that his shocking incompetence is a "tribute"?

Add up the deaths that might have been prevented if he had behaved like any other president, that's an indictment, not an award. Even the bumbling Bush managed to get on top of the 9/11 disaster. That doesn't mitigate his failure to respond to the Katrina disaster

We saw how Trump mismanaged the destruction of Puerto Rico, so every one should have known that he would not deal with the corona crisis any differently. In that, Bush and Trump share the same traits found in a majority of republicans; they just don't give a damn about people.

This renders no use for gun as if it turns into shooting one another in the streets, who cares to be alive in such a nightmare?

This is perhaps the most deadly enemy to every hit the world, any enemy that cannot be seen; a silent one invented by nature.

The three-dot ellipsis lets the reader know that our quotation omits some words but is all taken from the same sentence in the original text. This is called the medial ellipsis. Sometimes we want to omit words from the end of one sentence but continue to quote from subsequent sentences.

The political ads write themselves. No need to exaggerate or stretch the truth. Trump's own words indict him as indifferent, incompetent and totally unfit for the job. Meanwhile Moscow Mitch and his Fox News buddies are working overtime to find excuses for Donnie's bizarre behavior and ignoramus comments. They're starting to throw everything at the wall hoping something sticks:

No one saw this coming.

Nope, the whole world saw this train roaring down the track. China provided the world with a heads up. We had time to prepare and make a decent stab at containment. But Trump and his enablers sat on their hands.

Now it's impeachment was a terrible distraction; it's all the Dems' fault.

Nope, the Squatter-in-Chief blows that out of the water by his own admission. His multiple, verified golf trips and political rallies underscore the grim reality--the clown car cannot make this go away with bravado, denial and/or outright lies. The gimmicks and gaslighting just don't work when people are dying. Just wait until Red State America finds itself equally vulnerable to Covid-19 and Trump continues with these nonsense excuses.

Donald and his ugly crew are the froggies in the soup kettle, the broth of which is simmering, rolling, coming soon to a wicked boil.

It is a very weak premise that impeachment had anything to do with the administration's response, but in Trump's fact-free world he could have run with it. Problem is it violates Trump's Prime Directive: "I never did anything wrong". He will never blame anyone even Democrats for making him do something wrong or to not do the right thing. He physically cannot admit wrongdoing, the mental block is strong with this one.
