US records 1,169 coronavirus deaths, new global daily high: Johns Hopkins

Source: CNA Channal News Asia

The United States recorded 1,169 COVID-19 fatalities in the past 24 hours, the Johns Hopkins University tracker showed on Thursday (Apr 2), the highest one-day death toll recorded in any country since the global pandemic began. The grim record was previously held by Italy, where 969 people died on Mar 27.

The US has now recorded 5,926 coronavirus deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Globally, Italy still has the highest total death toll, with 13,915 dying of the disease there, followed by Spain at 10,003.

The US also recorded more than 30,000 new cases of COVID-19 in the same 24-hour period, bringing the total number of officially reported cases in the country to more than 243,000, according to Johns Hopkins.

The United States suffered 1,169 deaths related to the coronavirus pandemic in 24 hours, breaking a new record for the most fatalities any country has reported in a day and pushing the total death toll to over 6,000. The previous record was set in Italy on March 27, when it reported 969 new coronavirus deaths in one day at the height of its outbreak, although Italy is obviously a much smaller country. The Johns Hopkins University coronavirus pandemic tracker shows that 6,058 people have now died in the U.S. and 245,573 have tested positive. Global cases shot to over a million on Thursday and over 53,000 people have died.

The numbers are up to date from all countries...
It says 1,321 new deaths and 7,392 new cases yet we are below Italy, Spain and France as far as deaths per 1 million people.

Italy's....243
Spain's...240
France's...100
Belium's...99
Holland's...87

USA's...22

And our numbers are heading almost steight along their paths. When you at percentages it is fucking scary where the Us is going.
