Trump allies put unproven virus drug to work in Texas

Source: The Associated Press

When a coronavirus outbreak hit a Texas nursing home, Dr. Robin Armstrong reached for an unproven treatment: the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine.

First, he needed to find a supply. But at a moment when President Donald Trump is heavily promoting the drug, Armstrong is no regular physician. He is a Republican National Committee member and GOP activist in Houston, and after calling Republican Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, the Texas chairman of Trump's presidential campaign in 2016, Armstrong soon had enough doses to begin treating 27 infected residents of The Resort at Texas City.

Armstrong, the medical director at the facility, said Tuesday it is too soon to tell whether the treatment will work. But his sweeping use of the drug at one nursing home along the smoggy Texas coastline illustrates how Trump's championing of the medication is having an impact on doctors across the U.S., even as scientists warn that more testing is needed before it’s proven safe and effective against COVID-19.

we wait to see if the pharmacy will be able to fill her next prescription -- it was supposed to be today, now maybe Thursday, or possibly Monday.

Maybe, if "Dr" Robinson knew more about proper medical procedures (like not tugging at his mask when its on his face), he'd have been able to keep his charges free of the disease to begin with, and wouldn't have needed to turn them into giant guinea pigs in Depends.

Prescribing drugs off-label is always fraught. Prescribing drugs with know serious adverse effects off label is just dumb.

favor the doctor and hospital.

They can nearly kill you,

Hydroxychloroquine can cause heart damage. I would think they would try it with younger patients first.

Malpractice suits coming up. Lots!

Not proven safe, not proven effective, but 100% guaranteed to be The Cure by the Exulted Infallible leader, the Mangled Apricot Hell-beast in the Oval Office!

America, I cry for your lost direction, your lost values, your caged children, the needless deaths. Your sad future.
It could, and should, have been much better.

The basic gist is this:
1. Trump claims hydroxychloroquine as treatment.
2. Studies and science say otherwise.
3. Dr. of 3 Medclinics in CA magically appears with stories that Trump's drug is curing Covid.
4. Dr. of 3 medclinics in fact has NOT had miraculous recoveries of his patients BUT in conjunction with his "relative" has concocted a scheme to lie about it in a "lyin' for the lord" scenario where their Lord is Trump and they will hide behind HIPAA law.

Who are these people?
Dr. Anthony Cardillo.
