Bishop who said 'God is larger than this dreaded virus' dies of Covid-19
Source: CNN
Bishop Gerald Glenn, the pastor of New Deliverance Evangelistic Church in Virginia has died, the church announced on Sunday. Glenn had tested positive for coronavirus, according to a video posted by his daughter Mar-Gerie Crawley.
In a sermon on March 22, a day before Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam issued his executive order banning all public and private gatherings of 10 people or more, Glenn told his congregation, "I firmly believe that God is larger than this dreaded virus," and announced he was not afraid to die.
On April 4, Glenn's daughter posted a video, announcing that both he and his wife, Marcietia Glenn, had tested positive for coronavirus.

Hes yelling in our ear STAY AT HOME, MORONS. Only those who think they are smarter than God wont admit to being morons.
The idiot trap is set, and this guy fell into it.
On edit:
Some say its Gods law others say law of natural selection. This is one instance where both atheists and the spiritually-minded can agreethis guy is a moron. And its a shame when a person doesnt know what he doesnt know. Sometimes it can get you killed, making yourself a martyr to your opposite cause.

I get your point, though.
Liberals, at our peril, underestimate the number of stupid people who are influenced by large daily dosages of money launched into media content to promote billionaire interests which feed off of everyone else's suffering.

(1,242 posts)He was directly referring to those who were all talk and no sincere faith. In other words, the preachers who sell God like snake oil.
I wonder how his afterlife is going. I hope well. I hope the bar is not that low.

Judas was an early modern day conservative disciple.
Judas got 30 pieces of silver, but just once, for selling Christ.
Pat Robertson, Jim Bakker and their ilk get millions of dollars repeatedly for selling Christ.
Judas was a fool for doing a one-time sale.

The conservative denial of this pandemic is absolutely frustrating. This fellow and his congregation must have spread it to others.

(2,697 posts)It is a little ironic that he died after making his ignorant statement, but if he cancelled services going forward, his words suggest personal hubris, like god was going to protect him, personally. But if he actually defied Northam's order and continued to gather masses of people to "worship" services, then he is/was a damned fool.

(80 posts)His family should look on the bright side -- any more talks with god won't be long distance -- UNLESS HE IS WHERE HE SHOULD BE, BURNING IN HELL. And why isn't that being live streamed? I mean if god really wants us to be afraid of going to hell, why doesn't he license the rights to netflix to livestream hell. IMHO, it would get hellacious ratings, even better than tRump's.

(3,246 posts)It's unfortunate that his arrogance has resulted in grief for his family and who knows how many other people becoming infected and possibly dying. He could have done so much good if he'd told his congregation to take the appropriate precautions against the virus. Unfortunately, he'll probably be viewed as a martyr for his faith.
