Elizabeth Warren says she would accept being Joe Biden's running mate

Source: The Guardian

Democratic candidate has vowed to pick a woman for vice-president and says a committee will vet a shortlist of names

Elizabeth Warren has said she would accept an offer to be running mate to the Democratic presidential candidate, Joe Biden, if the position were offered.

“Yes,” said the US Senator when asked on MSNBC how she would respond if Biden asked her to run for vice-president.

Biden, who was Barack Obama’s vice-president, has vowed to pick a woman to be his running mate and said he would name a committee to help him vet a shortlist of names soon.

Warren endorsed Biden earlier on Wednesday. She ended her own bid for the White House in March and became known for championing detailed and sweeping liberal reforms. Biden has been working to win the support of more liberal parts of the party ahead of his battle against Donald Trump in the 3 November election.

was priceless. A brief moment of stunned silence. It took my breath away as well. Warren did not elaborate or go on a rant, just a firm and unequivocal "yes".

I am aware of certain drawbacks, but Professor Warren has something priceless: the ability to explain things quickly and simply to people who lack much background on a subject. This would be a tremendous asset in campaigning, especially in a campaign which is going to involve economics and science in greater degree than usual, against a foe who will attempt much blather and outright mendacity where both are concerned.

Susan Rice to be the pick (also an excellent choice, in my opinion), Warren connects with people in a way no one else has yet demonstrated. I'd be smiling like a clam with a Biden-Warren ticket.

I like Warren, I see her in a cabinet position. But we need someone younger. And preferably a minority. But at the very least a
younger woman. Besides, the governor of Mass. is a republican and she would be replaced by a republican and we cannot afford to
lose even one senate seat.

She has good health and is a woman, which means she has more life expectancy than a man.

The MA seat - on that I agree. Look what happened when Ted Kennedy died! Don't trust Mass. entirely.

Because I'd like to see the VP go on to be competitive running for president after 4 years, and be able to hold the office for 8 years. We need someone who ushers in a new generation of democrats.

this, supposedly, why Kennedy would not resign after his stroke on inauguration day, depriving Obama of a 60 seat majority, because he waited for that law to pass.

But I agree that Biden needs someone younger, someone who is 100% in agreement with his plan not kinda, maybe, sort of.

She attacked him, she waited to the last minute to endorse him, what is it? quid pro quo?

No doubt he is the first to realize that he may not finish his term and/or will not seek a second one. He needs someone who is in complete agreement with his plans, and neither Warren nor Harris can do that, really.

And, for these reasons, he needs someone younger.

Sorry, Senator. Yes, 2016 was the last chance for Hillary and this time for you. And just because the final three have been in their 70s where I am, too, this should not be the new normal.

Besides, I think that you are doing a good job in the Senate. I think that you'd better follow your own path there than being in the shadow of someone else.

candidates that would be pleasing. I started out liking Klobachar, Harris, and Warren. I do not want a female out of left field. So, I hope that Warren is on that short list.

I haven't looked at the Senate numbers. I know that we have to get rid of Turtle Man. And, I know that a massive turnout will be needed. Everyone who can even crawl to the polls needs to get it done, one way or another. Our country depends on it.

But, I like Warren for the simple fact that she isn't going to wilt under Trump's vindictive rhetoric against her. She's smart, does her homework, and is articulate. I am not worried about any differences between her and the Pres because this will not imperil our
Democracy. All it does is put her in the forefront in 2024, and I don't worry about that. She will still have to run for the position.

My second choice would be Klobachar. She is very articulate, very smart, and although she has a quieter demeanor, she is solid. But, her husband is ill, is he not? So, I think that has an impact, quite rightly, and that is something to think about.

I see Biden and Warren working together to bring the voting public together, and then later to fix the problems we now have because of Trump. I don't see any reason to worry about her personal campaign views or her working to thwart Biden. I don't give a shit about her "Indian" thing. I see her as someone who can tell the Orange Asshole to fuck off. And, that's what my heart wants right now.

I won't cry if Harris is picked, or Rice. Either one will be embraced. But, I want them to fully campaign coast to coast. And, I want someone who can think quickly what to do if Trump defies the law and tries to keep power.

I'd rather Harris become the AG.

P.S. Arms open wide for Hilary to show up. She would be my absolute top choice.
