Mnuchin says it was his idea to put Trump's name on stimulus checks

Source: The Hill

BY ARIS FOLLEY - 04/19/20 08:51 PM EDT

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on Sunday that it was his idea to put President Trump's name on the stimulus checks being sent to Americans during the coronavirus pandemic.

“We did put the president's name on the check,” he said during an appearance on CNN’s “State of The Union,” adding: “That was my idea. He is the president and I think it's a terrific symbol to the American public.”

His comments come after a story published by The Washington Post, which had been first to break the news about the move, last week reported that the president had privately made the suggestion about having his name printed on the checks to Mnuchin.

The story had also reported that two senior agency officials with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) had claimed the move to print Trump’s name on the checks would cause delays for some payments.

Mnuchin is a toady of the first degree and knows this is the stuff that further ingratiates him with trump. Meanwhile, he will keep looting the treasury along with the rest of them.

I imagine the conversation went something like this:

TRUMP: "I want my signature used to sign the checks."

MNUCHIN: "Well, we'd have to go through legal changes, it will add a lot of time/expense/complication, so how about if we print your name on the memo line? And {to make it sound more appealing to him}, nobody who doesn't already know it can read your signature anyway, but everyone will be able to read the printed line."

So yeah, I bet it was Mnuchin's dumb idea, to save the treasury from Trump's even dumber idea.

much like a Mafia don tells one of his enforcers, "This guy is causing me too much trouble." Adding Fat Donnie's name to the checks is unprecedented, so it's not something Mnuchin would think of by himself. And then there's the story about how Trump wanted his signature on each check, so his dumb followers would think he was personally giving them the funds, even though the money was allocated by Congress.

The payment due to Americans is way over due and 'munchkin' is still blinded by the yellow-orange-brick-road-brain of shambles and shame.
