US source: North Korean leader in grave danger after surgery
Source: cnn
(CNN)The US is monitoring intelligence that North Korea's leader, Kim Jong Un, is in grave danger after a surgery, according to a US official with direct knowledge.
Kim recently missed the celebration of his grandfather's birthday on April 15, which raised speculation about his well-being. He had been seen four days before that at a government meeting.
CNN has reached out to the CIA, National Security Counsel and the State Department for comment. CNN has also sought comment from the South Koreans.

A small passing thought occurs: North Korea claims it has no coronavirus in its country. Is it possible that KJU actually has COVID-19, and they're calling it "surgery" as a cover story?

They'd be better off installing Kim's son as a puppet.

(50,553 posts)As for cults of personality, Mussolini was the beneficiary of a very strong cult of personality. He ended up shot dead and hung by the feet from the canopy of a gas station.
There's also the nonzero chance the Army has already executed KJU and is just using the "surgical complications" thing as a cover story.

(160,516 posts)North Korea denies that Kim sent Trump a nice note
Its foreign ministry referred to the story as ungrounded.

SEOUL, South Korea North Korea on Sunday dismissed as ungrounded President Donald Trumps comment that he recently received a nice note from the Norths leader, Kim Jong Un.
Trump said during a press briefing on the coronavirus pandemic Saturday that I received a nice note from him recently. It was a nice note. I think were doing fine. Trump also defended now-stalled nuclear diplomacy with Kim, saying the U.S. would have been at war with North Korea if he had not been elected.
North Koreas Foreign Ministry said in a statement that there was no letter addressed to Trump recently by the supreme leadership, a reference to Kim.
It said it would examine why the U.S. leadership released the ungrounded story to the media.

Alas, it was only cardiovascular. Of course, that covers one hell of a lot of territory and he's awfully young for it, only 37. I wonder if his doctors will have the guts to tell him the party's over.
