The one Republican Senate candidate willing to call out Donald Trump

Source: Politico

Few Republicans are willing to say a negative word about President Donald Trump.

John James — a rising star in the GOP who last year was floated to be Trump's ambassador to the United Nations, and is now waging an uphill campaign for Senate in Michigan — is taking a different approach.

During a video conference with black community leaders last week, James was asked whether he disagreed with Trump on anything given the president’s support of his candidacy.

“Plenty, plenty of issues,” James responded. “Everything from cutting Great Lakes funding to ‘shithole countries’ to speaking ill of the dead," apparently referring to Trump's disparagement of the late Sen. John McCain. "I mean, where do you want to start?”

I don't believe a word he says. In his campaign in 2016 against Senator Debbie Stabenow he was a tRump supporter and wanted to do away with the ACA and pre-existing conditions. Lucky for us he lost.

He knows Trump will loose Michigan, and wants to distance himself from him.
So he has to pretend he cares about people and issues that he doesn't care at all about, and hope the Michigan voters are all as stupid as the Trump base.

If he wins the election, well then it's back to the same old right wing Republican shit show.

No Republican candidate can be trusted, and none should be elected this fall.

James will go along with the repubs. He lost to Sen Debbie Stabenow and he will lose to Sen Gary Peters.

when the no reason absentee voting referendum passed in 2018 along with the anti-gerrymandering referendum.

They are trying to use Democratic talking points as "their" position in the hope that Independents and conservative Dems will believe them and vote for them.

Anti James campaign ads have already started playing in Michigan calling James out for his tRump support and anti ACA stand in 2016.

election day registration and voting too. repubs think because he's an AA that is going to make him a winner. We already saw this in 2016.

Don't believe it for a minute. He is on an ad calling for the disbandment of Obamacare. He wants seniors to pay more. He advocates getting rid of pre-exsisting conditions. AND HE HAS TAKEN MONEY FROM 5 OF THE DEVOS CLAN. Adding up to something like $23,000. With more to come, I'm sure. He's trading on the fact he was in the air force, and the fact that he is
black and from Detroit. His family is also rich. I believe his dad made his money by being awarded minority contracts. He is
very right wing. Hopefully, this will destroy what little support he has.

Gary Peters is a hard working, quiet, veteran (who, if we want to play the military game) reenlisted in the reserves after 9'11.
I've met him, he's very nice, he is just low key. Not flashy like James.

And remember, when this is all over, Republicans outside the orange cult are still the mortal enemies of all things good and fair.

When your GOP star is starting to turn a bit on Trump, that means his campaign knows Trump is an albatross. He must got internals showing that. I truly believe Trump will lose Michigan in November. I'm more sure of Michigan than any other former blue state right now. I feel good Biden will win Pennsylvania too. Wisconsin is the only wild card.
